Olens russian velvet, still my favourite color contacts

Olens russian velvet brown blue grey green reviewI have loved Olens as a brand for years now.ย  The used to be so hard to get since it was a domestic Korean brand that you couldn’t even get online in Korea because of the law, which forces you to have to buy contacts in stores due to them wanting you to get the right prescription.

Just last year, they launched a global site and I was the first to be screaming to the world about it.ย  Unfortunately, my scream wasn’t loud enough and some of you still don’t know that they have a OLENS GLOBAL WEBSITE (Caps lock to get my point across!).ย  The price is about the same but they always have some sort of promotion (Bogo or gift with purchase), along with free global shipping with purchases over $100 or express shipping with purchases over $150.

Let’s get into the review!

DISCLAIMER:ย If it is your first time wearing color contacts or it has been a while since you have worn contacts, I would advise to only wear them for 2-3 hours max on your first few days, then add couple hours for the next few days until you are fully comfortable to wear it for 6-8 hours.ย  Please note that color contacts aren’t supposed to be a replacement for your everyday contacts.Correct way of wearing contactsIf you are having issues with your contact shifting when you blink, you’ve most likely put the contact on wrong.ย  To ensure you have put it on properly, look at your contact lense and if it is rice bowel, your Gucci.ย  If you see the sides curving outwards, you got it wrong.

I thought cleaning your contacts is common sense, but it seems like it isn’t.ย  So as a PSA, if you are wearing monthly or yearly contacts, YES YOU NEED TO CLEAN THEM AFTER USE.ย  I repeat, CLEAN THAT MOTHA FUCKIN* shit, please.ย  The easiest way to clean it for me is the Clear care plus system which comes with a contact solution as well as the cage that you’re supposed to use it with.ย  All you have to do is placing your contacts in the cage, squirting the contact solution into and watch it bubble up.ย  You need to make sure to give it 6 hours before using it again the next day.

I’ve also heard one reader having issues with the contacts feeling dry.ย  He then found out it wasn’t the contact itself, but the cleaning solution so if you are also having those issues, try a different cleaning solution.

If you have more questions about topics such as how to open contact lens bottles, how to safely store your contacts or how to care for your contacts, check out this page on Olens’ website.

color contacts for brown eyesThe packaging is simple with these contacts.ย  I’m actually very glad they aren’t in those pesky glass bottles where you would cut your finger just trying to get the damn thing.ย  The packaging has the model number, measurement as well as the expiration date.

color contacts for brown eyesDark brown eyes are one of the hardest eye color to buy color contacts since it is so dark, the color contact HAS to be pigmented enough to cover.ย  Pixels that are too dense cause your eyes to be strained faster, but I don’t seem to have a problem with Olens.ย  Of course, that also depends on which style you choose, but Russian velvets, Spanish line, and teenteen seem to have an average wear time of more than 8 hours before my eyes start hurting.

color contacts for brown eyes olens reviewThe one thing I wish Russian velvet could change is the diameter.ย  At 12.9 mm diameter for its graphics, some of my browns peeks out on the outer circumference.ย  It isn’t too noticeable but if someone were to have a larger iris, it would definitely be more noticeable.

Russian velvet green is the newest addition to the Russian velvet and honestly a long time coming.ย  There wasn’t a new shade for a good year and a half and it has been one of the best selling line ever since it was released.ย  This is kind of a better late than never the situation but we finally got a green version whoo!ย ย

Olens russian velvet green review try onI’ve always wanted green eyes ever since Hilary Duff was one of the biggest stars back in the early 2000’s. Close up, the green is more noticeable but far away, these look more like a hazel.ย  I do like that it is quite subtle, which also means I’d be grabbing it just as much as the brown ones whoo!

color contacts for brown eyes greenI love the pixels in this line.ย  Even close up, it looks as though it can really be your real eyes.

green color contacts for dark eyesThe before and after for color contacts is always the most satisfying part!!ย  I love that they didn’t just have straight green but mixed a little bit of golden yellow as well as brown in the center, making it blend into your natural eyes all that much better. My long-time favorite, Russian velvet brown.ย  Now that the green has come out, I think the brown and the green are rivals.ย  These brown ones and I have more history though and I’ve had many people stop me in the streets to ask if these are my real eye color.ย  When I told them they are $20 color contact lenses, they were so excited to get themselves a pair too.

olens russian velvet brown try on reviewThese brown ones don’t have as many colors mixed into it but the speckles in between make it all the difference.ย  Again, I wish the diameter for the pattern was slightly bigger, but I’ll survive to live another day.

light brown color contacts for brown eyes

color contacts before and after olens russian velvet brownThis is my go-to color when I want to just look like I have lighter eyes or if I have strong eye makeup and want my eyes to stand out, this is the one I go for. Although the blue shade is absolutely gorgeous, the Russian velvet blue shade along with the grey are two shades I rarely grab for since it is so dramatic.ย

color contacts for dry eyes olens russian velvet blue reviewLast but not least is the Russian velvet grey, which looks similar to the blue but is a lot more cool tone.ย  I personally can’t wear this color often because of my pale and cool undertone skin color.

grey color contacts before and after olens russian velvet greyThe grey compared to the blue, which one would you choose?

That is it for the Russian velvet line.ย  They are still my favourite color contacts for dark eyes and it would work with any eye color if you know it has such good coverage.ย  I think my new favorite could be green but we’ll see which one I grab for now ;).ย  Let me know which is your favourite color or if you have tried Olens, which is your favourite!ย  I’m always open to trying new colors and styles.
