Moonshot micro correctfit cushion Review & Demo

I’m firing up my love for BB cushion again!   Following Moonshot’s new release of their tinted moisturizer/primer,  of course, had to get my hands on their new cushion which was advertised as a more moisture driven cushion compared to their other ones.  For some reason, Moonshot refuses to come out with a flat out moisture cushion so I guess this will have to do haha.  The packaging is absolutely gorgeous but I’m more curious to see if this formula will pass my cushion loving self.  Let’s get into the review!

How to use:
Take an appropriate amount on the puff and lightly pat onto the entire face.

Packaging:
The compact itself is the same standard cushion case as the first generation but of course, the lid has this gorgeous embezzled glitter which is SO pretty to look at!

To open the case, you just push the button in the front which will release the lid and viola!  Inside is a nice sized mirror and the air puff of course.  

I was super surprised to see the air puff coming in a really unique somewhat oval shape with a point on the top.  This is super smart and I’m wondering why other companies haven’t jumped on board with this!  You can get into the little cracks like under your eyes or the sides of your nose so much easier!!

The texture of the puff is also denser than your regular blue air puffs but also not as dense as the brown ones which is supposed to provide a higher coverage since it soaks less product.  This one from Moonshot almost has the texture of memory foam and it doesn’t soak up as much product!!  Its quite nice and I’d actually buy a pack of these for daily use.

And of course, after you flip open the lid is the BB cushion itself.  It is just your typical sponge soaked cushion here.  No new technology like the tension mesh or the mochi pancake style here.  Somehow, I find this cushion doesn’t seem to dry out on top like a lot of other cushions.  I’m not sure if it is the air puff that is good at picking up the product and not soaking in as much or the sponge.  I mean, there is just the standard 15 g of product in here… hmm…  Totally not complaining, it is just an observation.

Color/ Pigmentation:
This cushion comes in 3 shades, 101, 201 and 301.  I’m quite surprised that it only comes in three shades actually since YG as a brand is known to appeal to foreigners since one of their requirements (it seems) for their artists is to know English.  I might be jumping the gun here but I would think they would have at least 5 shades.

Anyways, I got mine in shade 201 beige which is a perfect match for my Mac NC25 yellow undertone skin.  I wouldn’t say this is a super yellow undertoned shade, it is more of a neutral shade but it definitely is THE best matching shade I have EVER gotten. It is super pigmented and a little goes a long long way, so be careful!

Texture/ Finish:
Anytime I see the keywords in K-beauty like “fit, cotton, perfecting”, I automatically think “oh shit, its drying af so imma stay away!”  Now that I reread the description from top to bottom, nowhere does it say that it is moisturizing at all!!  I must have just tricked myself into thinking it was so I could justify getting it haha.  I’m actually really happy that I did because this cushion has one of the best textures!!  Just like the description says, it is lightweight but high coverage and doesn’t cling onto my dry patches!!  I almost glide right over it and has a satin finish that I was scared would turn into a cakey and dry mess.  But no!!!  After 8-10 hours of wear, there was very minimal drying action happening on the sides of my nose and my laugh lines but everything stay put!!  It kept my cream blush on, it kept my powder contour on… absolutely everything was intact.  Oh my goddddd!!  Granted I did use the multi protection tinted moisture but STILL! WOWZA~

I’m guessing you’ll have to see it to believe it right?  Aight, let’s go~

Here is my bare face.  There are some redness and irritation happening on my cheeks as well as the sides of my nose.  For my concealer, I usually like to use a separate color corrector as well as the Missha concealer palette that has done me no wrong.

And this is my whole face with one thin layer.  It doesn’t give me the usual glow that I like but everything is locked and loaded but doesn’t dry my face out either.  I did pat a little bit of the cushion under my eye after I used my Clio color corrector in orange which always does the trick to hide the purple/blue under my eyes.  It didn’t seem to crease much under my eyes as well which I’m also super duper impressed by!

Coverage:
Although it has a light texture, this cushion provides a solid medium to full coverage and is definitely buildable.  Also, I’d like to mention, putting product on top of this cushion is also a breeze.  It doesn’t clump with the base make up, everything just glides right over like an absolute dream.

And viola~  Full face done 😀

Lasting power:
Like I mentioned up top, I wore this on multiple of occasions for more than 10 hours and my make up still looks good and fresh!  All my contour, blush, highlight was intact and no redness was peeking out.

Fragrance?:
There is a super light soapy, baby powder scent but it is super minimal and fades after application.  Smell-o-scale: 3/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Overall thoughts:
This cushion definitely has the IT factor to have my holy grail stamp of approval.  That reminds me, I really should curate my new list of holy grail products so it is easier for you guys to shop.  I’m highly amazed at the quality and for 28,000 won, I really think this is worth it.  If only this came with a refill, it would have been an instant “run out the door with your wallet and get it (if the three shades suit your skin tone that is)”.  The refill itself costs 18,000 won which isn’t too too bad and it is on sale right now for 14,000 won so I think it is quite reasonable.  Overall this cushion absolutely blew me away like Lisa’s dancing and that FACE OF HERS MAN!  YASSSSS UGh she’s so pretty.
