Memebox I’m tint balm Review + Swatch (Versus Dior Addict Lip glow)

Memebox i'm tint balm reviewContinuing on with the Memebox reviews, this product caught my eye when I was scroll around on their website.  Why? Because the functionality and the claims reminded me a lot of another product that I love but didn’t love the price.  What product is that you say?  Dior lip glow, a product that a lot of people love and something I got sucked into purchasing during a sale because of the hype around the product.  I haven’t seen many reviews on Memebox’s “I’m tint balm” product, so here is my review on it.
Let’s go~~ (/^▽^)/

I'm meme I'm tint balmProduct packaging:
The first thing I noticed when I got my package was that these two products that the same product but had two different packaging.  From what I can decipher, the pink shade has the older packaging and the coral shade has the newer packaging.  I actually prefer the old packaging which is more of a light weight metal and a hot pink font to indicate the shade of the balm.  The newer packaging comes in a matte black plastic tube with the product name printed also in black but in a glossy font.  The older packaging definitely have a higher quality feel to it, but you know what, for $7, you can’t really complain.  The product seamlessly twists up and down no problem.  I hate it when the product can twist up but can’t go back down, THE WORST!  I’m glad to inform this product has no problems.

How to use:
“Glide the tint balm onto the lips. Layer with your favourite lipstick for added color.”

This product has easily become my go to product in my purse. I was running low on the Dior Addict lip glow and was contemplating if I wanted to spend the money to repurchase it again because I do really like the function of it being so easy to use, even on days I’m not wearing any make up.  But I really couldn’t justify the $40 CDN ($33 USD) for a lip balm.  This one from Memebox does litterally the exact same thing but with a price I can justify.  These balms are suppose to tint your lips while moisturizing them and with your body temperature, the color will become brighter and brighter.  This product is suitable for all skin types as well and is great for those lazy days when you just want a little something something.

Color/ Pigmentation:
This product actually comes in four shades, but the USA site only has the two shades I am reviewing at the moment.  At first when you apply it, it does not look like much on the lips but balm.  Once you let it warm up, within 1 minute the color becomes more and more bright. Flash neon pink in the tube looks like a highlighter pink, but on the lips it gives a nice subtle youthful pink glow.  Lovely coral, like the name states, is a warm coral shade and is a lot more subtle then the pink glow.  Both colors are gorgeous and I would use them year round.  I’ve love to see the other two shades as well but the US site doesn’t carry them for some reason.

IMG_0563Texture/ Finish:
The texture of these balms are perfect in my opinion, not greasy and slick but highly moisturizing and stays put on the lips.  It also gives the lips a slight gloss to the lips making them look nice and juicy.  Ohhh yeaaa~ (´ε` )♡

Lasting power:
The actual balm itself lasts on my lips for about 2 hours before I’d have to reapply.  Even after the gloss disappears, the tint stays on my lips until the end of the day when I remove it with make up remover.  Unlike the Dior one, this one actually leaves my lips hydrated and not chapped when the balm disappears.

Fragrance?:
This balm are scented, smell-o-scale= 6/10.  Flash neon pink has a slight vanilla scent to it while lovely coral has a Japanese fruit jelly candy scent.  Both are not obnoxious and I do really enjoy the fragrances.

IMG_0564Since throughout the whole post I have been comparing these to the Dior Lip glow, let’s actually compare them with swatches and everything.

IMG_0570

IMG_0565As you can see in the tub, all four of these balms look different.  The Dior Addict lip glow in pink is a lot more baby pink looking in the tube while Memebox’s Flash neon pink holds true to the name, it is very highlighter pink in the tube. Dior’s lip glow in coral looks a lot like an orange popsicle color while Memebox’s look like an orange Starburst.  So right from the get go, they don’t look like they can be a dupe right?

IMG_0567On the skin, Memebox has a brighter pink color to it but is very similar to Dior’s pink glow. Dior’s take a bit longer to develop the pink color.

IMG_0568Same thing with the coral shades.  Memebox’s tint balm looks a lot brighter on the skin then Dior’s but both pretty much have the same color to them, warm undertone and everything.

IMG_0632Here are my bare lips so we can compare later on what it looks like with and without the tint balms on.

IMG_0635Starting off with Memebox’s….

IMG_0637

IMG_0638I really love how Memebox’s tint balm makes my lips look a lot more alive and glowy.  Gorgeoussss~

IMG_0632

IMG_0643It doesn’t look like there is much difference on camera, but trust me when I say there is a difference.  After the balm wears off, there is a noticeable pink tint left over.

IMG_0644On with Dior’s.

IMG_0646On the pinks, Dior’s look no different then Memebox’s. Dior’s formula is ever so slightly thicker in terms of the balm and I find myself having to really work it into my lips unlike Memebox’s which I just have to glide over my lips.  There are times when my lips are super dry and I go and use the Dior lip glow, the balm is so solid from the cold weather that it actually made my lips bleed when I went to apply it because it wasn’t gliding on my lips effortlessly.

IMG_0648Same thing here, there is a slight pink tint on the lips as well but sadly you can’t see much difference with the lightening washing it out.

IMG_0652

IMG_0653 (1)This coral color is also very wearable and leans more towards a pinkish coral shade rather then a bright orange shade.

IMG_0657The coral shade doesn’t leave much of a tint on my lips, at least not on my really pigmented red lips.

IMG_0660

IMG_0661Dior’s lip glow in coral looks slightly different then Memebox’s, and seems to look more balmy and glowy on the lips unlike Memebox’s coral shade which has more of a orange popsicle look to it.

IMG_0664But the aftermath is still the same, not much tint effect on my pigmented lips.

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.43.52 PMFrom my little chart, I have stated the differences and similarities between the two products.  Memebox’s is not a 100% dupe to Dior, I’d say it is a good 90% dupe but with improvements.  I love the Dior one but there are some flaws with it and the price obviously is one major factor.  That and personally feel Dior’s formula is slightly too stiff for my liking and takes more effort to apply to the lips.  So is Dior’s good enough as a product for me to want to fork out an extra $26?  No definitely not.  Memebox’s is a lot more affordable, offers more unique shades such as a deep red and even a rose shade.  On top of that, they have more product (5 g compared to Dior’s 3.5 g).  Of course one down side to buying the one from Memebox is that they online operate in Korea, China and USA so if you don’t live in those countries, you are going to have to use a buying service.

Pro:
-affordable
-offers different shades from light to dark
-super moisturizing
-nice tint to lips

Con:
-can only be purchased online (hard if you don’t live in USA, China or Korea)

Repurchase?:
Yes

Overall thoughts:
I love love love this product, especially because it is now my dupe for the Dior lip glow.  It is super buttery, moisturizing and the shades available are all perfect.  All in all, I highly recommend this product and I give this a holy grail status.  I’ve tried a lot of lip balms in my life and can recognize a good balm when I try one and this one is definitely a solid one.

Have you guys tried this product or seen this product around?  What are your thoughts on this?  Would you choose Dior or Memebox now that you know there is a more affordable alternative.  Let me know in the comments down below what you guys think, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

There’s more product in the Memebox balm!! And they look as good as the Dior ones too, if not better!
    What is this sorcery?!

Yes there actually is surprisingly! The Dior one, honestly you are just paying for the packaging and the designer name. Hehe I think it looks better then Dior’s actually because it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg
