Product packaging:IMG_0060Myย initial first impression of this product’sย packaging was “Wow I really like the design of the main ingredients of the mask, and the colors chosen to represent each masks complements the whole look and theme. ย Well done! ย Nice design. ย Good job design team, here’s a raise (of course that is if I was the boss HAHA)” ย I really liked that they kept it simple with the packaging, minimal and well suited to the botanical garden type of theme.

This sheet mask is suppose to be a new innovation with their 100% botanical fibers. ย Apparently these fibers are extracted from the primary ingredients, so the mint & teatree one comes from mint leaves, rose one comes from rose and aloe is from aloe. ย They are suppose to be able to absorb the essence a lot more then the regular paper sheet masks, hugs the skin better and is more breathable. ย Best of all, they are biodegradable! ย I hope the pouch that it comes in is also biodegradable. ย This makes the tree hugging me happy. ย I get so annoyed at work when my co-workers just throw the cans, glass and plastic into the garbage cans. ย How can you be so heartless and irresponsible. ย There are turtles out there that are getting caught in the can holders and straws getting stuck up their nose. ย Let’s see you have a straw stuck up your nose!! ย UGHย (โ•ฌ ร’ โ€ธ ร“). ย I always just end up picking all of it out of the garbage can. ย Seriously kids, don’t wish to grow up fast. ย Adults are pretty much like kids with money but you get responsibilities. ย I just want to stay at home and be a burrito.bon-vivant-memelab-2-content-final bon-vivant-memelab-3-content-final

bon-vivant-memelab-4-content-final2Fit:
I have to admit, I was very skeptical when I got these products. ย I thought these will be like every other sheet mask out there, nothing special. ย This sheet mask claims to be very form fitting and boy is it true! ย A lot of the times, I have troubles with the sheet mask to stick to my skin in the nose bridge, right below where my eyebrows meet. ย For some reason, sheet masks don’t sit well there. ย This one, because it has extra cut outs, stuck onto that area no problem. ย The rest of my face also fit snuggly. ย I think one of the stand out thing is that the cut out around the eyes is just right. ย It also reaches under my eye and acts like an undereye mask as well without me putting a hydrogel eye mask. ย Perfect for the lazy me.

Texture:
As I was pulling out the sheet mask for the first time, I thought to myself “wait… this looks like it is paper or whatever but how come it kind of feels like a hydrogel.” ย  This sheet mask is something I haven’t encountered before. ย The texture is quite odd, kind of like a hybrid between a high quality thick paper mask but kind of like a hydrogel because it is so moist.

IMG_0287Here is the close up of the material they call “botanical fibers”.

IMG_0288

IMG_0289They are quite strong as well! ย Here I was tugging and no rip! I am throughly impressed.

The essence itself was also slightly thicker then the sheet masks I’m used to. ย I squeezed out the remaining essence left in the pack and used it on my arm as a moisturizer. ย I was surprised myself that the essence wasn’t running down my arm at all. ย The texture was in between water and jelly.

Fragrance?:
All of these have difference scents to them according to which one you are using. ย The mint+teatree smelled like very faint chinese tea + earthy herb scent, it was quite soothing actually. Smell-o-scale=6/10 but the scent fainted away once applied to the skin.

The rose one smelled like faint rose water, nothing obnoxious at all and not grandma-ish at all which I’m happy to report. ย I don’t like rose scents most of the time because I find it too overpowering for me. ย Smell-o-scale=6/10 again.

Aloe one at first kind of smelled like fruity jello mixed with sweet aloe drink. ย As time went on, it started to smell a lot like herbal essence shampoo to me. ย Nothing super strong, smell-o-scale= 6/10.

How to use:
After you have cleansed your face and used toner, apply this sheet mask onto your face. ย Adjust the mask to your face shape and avoid the eyes!

Demo time!IMG_0253My skin is ready to be pampered. ย Cleansed, toned and everything! ย My skin was getting slightly tight because I had to set the camera and lights up before taking pictures haha.

IMG_0256Which mask should I choose first? ย It’s kind of like choosing which Pokemon to battle with. ย I CHOOSE… rose.

IMG_0257AHHH my bare face. ย It looks decent from afar, until you get close.ย โ•ฅ๏นโ•ฅ
I have a nice scab going on on my nose because there has been a trio of whiteheads embedded deeply under my skin and I am fed up with it, so I decided to finally dig it up (gently of course) with a needle and the pushy blackhead thing.

My usual skin concerns I like to fix are:
-dark under eye circles
-slight redness on cheeks, nose and chin
-sun damage on left cheek from forgetting to use sunscreen (oh my god…)

IMG_0259Sun damage damn it! If you guys have an effective product to get rid of it, please let me know. ย I need all the help I can get.

IMG_0260

IMG_0262Now to measure the moisture and oil levels are from my bare skin.

IMG_0263On my cheeks:
-moisture levels are 30.4%

I wish my skin was more hydrated. ย I wish I would one day see 80%+. ย Damn it skin. ย I wish I was a mermaid…. Never have to buy moisturizers again if I was underwater all day.IMG_0264-oil levels: 13.5%

IMG_0269This time around, we shall test out the rose one.

IMG_0271Yes, I always smell my products. ย I appreciate slightly or unscented products now. ย Did you know, most products that advertise themselves as “fragrance free”, at lot of the times means that they used extra chemicals to hide the smells. ย Oh no! ย That’s why I don’t mind having scent, as long as it is not overpowering and not make me gag.

IMG_0273Taking out the sheet mask…

IMG_0274And it looks like this.

IMG_0275When I first use the sheet mask and saw the mesh thingy, I thought it was a part of the mask. ย Silly me, it is just there to separate the mask from being folded up so it is easier for us to unfold.

IMG_0276No caption.. LOL. ย Its just me being weird.

IMG_0277Andddd… done! ย Very nice~

IMG_0279Remember when I said a lot of times the fit around my nose suck with a lot of sheet masks? ย This one hugs the skin nicely as you can see here and there everything is covered. Also in the eye area, the cut isn’t like a sad panda and fits just right. ย Not sure what is going on with the right side, the cut is slightly crooked, but the first time I used the sheet mask, they were both even.ย

IMG_0280

IMG_0281Okay, time to wait. ย I usually use my sheet mask 15-20 minutes. For demo purposes, I left it on for 30 minutes. ย I almost fell asleep waiting haha.

Spongebob_Time_Card_2

IMG_0283I’m highly impressed. ย Usually around the 20 minute mark, paper sheet masks are all dried up, especially the cheek area. ย The nose bridge is always the first one to dry up, but this one still retained moisture.

*Quick sheet mask tip*: ย If you don’t want certain areas of the sheet mask to dry out, you can apply some Vaseline on top of the sheet mask once you have fitted it onto your face. ย This way, it kind of seals the sheet mask off and it would take longer for it to dry up. ย I’d do this in areas like the nose bridge and cheeks. ย Or you could always get those silicone sheet masks from Daiso and wear it over your sheet masks. ย This way you can also do your normal chores and walk around without the sheet mask falling off and it also helps the essence not dry up as fast.

51Rw+oblpxL._SY355_

You can also place sheet masks into the fridge for extra cooling effects, especially during hot summer times! ย You could also place them into a bowl of hot waterย during the winter time to warm up.IMG_0285

IMG_0286

IMG_0291Once you are done with your sheet mask, peel it off and start to do the tapping motion to aid the essence to absorb into the skin faster. ย The motion is kind of like slapping yourself awake, not a “YOU B***” slap but a “oh no I’m falling asleep* kind of tap. ย Repeat this on your forehead as we. ย Please don’t slap yourself so hard that you are red. ย Tap about 15-20 times, both on your cheeks and forehead.

IMG_0293Then use the warmth of your hands and just press down. ย Do this to your cheeks and forehead area.

IMG_0297Let’s now measure what my moisture and oil levels are.

IMG_029561%?!?! ย Holy cows. ย From 30.4%, we jumped up to 61%. ย I promise I didn’t dip this into water HAHA.

IMG_0296Oil levels went from 13.6% to 27.4%. ย

IMG_0298Now for the forehead..

IMG_0299Forehead moisture levels: 34.9% to 50.6%

IMG_0300Oil Levels: 15.7% to 22.7%

Experiences during & after:
Mint + teatree was the first out of the three that I tried. ย I was slightly scared to use it since it contained teatree, and that is best used with those with troubled or oily skin. ย I was assured that the masks were hydrating enough for it not to dry my skin, so I sucked it up and slapped it on my face. ย The time I had it on, there was a very refreshing minty sensation with a hint of stinging. ย It wasn’t a painful stinging, not as bad as glam glow which made me feel like my skin was being burned off.

Rose also had the same tingling sensation as well but not as strong as mint + teatree, nor did it have the minty feeling.

Aloe stung the least, almost little to no stinging sensation.

After I used the sheet mask, all three of them made my skin feel super cool! ย Cool as in the temperature cool, not “hey I’m the coolest kid on the block” cool. ย I wish I bought me one of those thermometers that use a laser to measure temperatures, but sadly I don’t. ย I will have to go out and get one after this review keke. ย It is important to cool the skin down because it aids in anti-aging, and plus it feels really nice on the skin!

Absorption:
The absorption levels varied with the three different types of essence offered. ย The rose essence took a lot longer to absorb fully into the skin, I’d say it took almost an hour after I peeled the mask off. ย Mint + Teatree and aloe took about 45 minutes to fully absorb into the skin but all three did leave a slight moist barrier on my skin that doesn’t really go away until the next morning.

I think the numbers can speak for themselves. I have tried these over the span of 3 weeks now and I took my time to space out the testing days since I wanted it to be as accurate as I could get. ย All three of them were super, duper hydrating and I couldn’t believe it myself, to be honest. ย I always had the impression that sheet masks don’t really do much but slightly hydrates the skin, but these have proven me wrong.

Mint + teatree is supposed to tackle troubled and flaky skin while cooling and tightening pores. ย I’m not sure about the tightening pores since I don’t have big pores, to begin with. ย I wouldn’t use this on my dry skin again since I am not the skin type that it is supposed to cater to out of the fear of reverse effects. ย This did hydrate my skin deeply and am grateful I didn’t break out from it.

Rose sadly had the reverse effects on my skin. ย I have normal to dry, leaning more towards the dry skin category. ย The rose one is supposed to deeply replenish moisture and nourish while revitalizing a brighter and clearer complexion. ย I don’t know what was in it, but I think the “revitalizing” part was a little too strong and had the reverse effects. ย I think this version would be best suited for those with troubled or oily skin types. ย I’m not sure if it was an allergic reaction or what, but I never get pimples or red bumps. ย A week and a half have passed and my skin is still flared up from it. ย I am staying far far away from this one. ย เฉจ( ๏ฝฅแท„ ๏ธต๏ฝฅแท… )๏ฝผ ย I have heard from other people, that it did wonders on their skin, calming their skin irritations and even plumped up their wrinkles. ย So it might be just me, not sure.

Aloe one I think is the most basic and standard one, functions of which it is supposed to “deeply replenish moisture and nourish” while “clam(ing) sensitive skin.” ย If you don’t know which of the three you want to get, I’d say maybe start off with the aloe one since it is the most gentle of the three. ย I tried this last night and it definitely calmed the flare-ups from the rose mask almost immediately. ย The red bumps I’ve had for the past week and a half, the redness immediately went away and my skin didn’t feel itchy anymore. ย Aloe saved my lifeย

Pro:
-affordable price for $3 (or even cheaper, depending on when you buy it)
-easy to use
-skin hugging fit
-highly moisturizing

Con:
-sadly only ships to USA, China or Korea but you can easily request on Testerkorea to carry these on their site

Repurchase?:
HELL YEA, I’ll even cross the border just to order these. ย And when the border officers question why I have 200 of these in the back of my car, I’ll question their sanity and ask them why they don’t love their skin HAHA, and offer them a couple.

Stars given out of 5:

Overall thoughts:
You know me, I hardly ever give out 5 stars. ย Out of the (almost) 50 products I have officially reviewed on this blog so far, only 10 products have made it to my 5-star rating. ย A lot of the times, I find products that are amazing but the last question I ask myself is, would I see myself using this for years to come and will I repurchase this. ย The answer for this product is million times yes. ย And for that, I have stamped this product my approval. ย Overall this product is pretty darn amazing, and I’m surprised to say this myself. ย I hope Memebox can consider starting their own skincare line with the Bon Vivant mask as their inspiration. ย I could use a couple of toners, serums and moisturizers with the level of hydration that this offers. ย Two thumbs up, and two toes up. ย I wish I had five thumbs but I don’t so toes will have to do for now.Blog Disclaimer

Whoaaa! These look so good!! The fabric seems translucent, almost lol. I just ran out my sheet masks and I need to get on the bandwagon.
    Hydrogel masks are so good but they are such a hassle for me to unwrap and put onto the face! I always end up dropping them on the floor! ;_;
These look so good in comparison.

I love me some hydrogel masks but they can really add up! They are quite expensive sadly. HAHA I’m sorry for laughing but omg that is sad! I’ve always wondered if I could just wash off the essence and reuse the gel but I think that wouldn’t be very hygienic. I think the Bon Vivant ones are actually better since it doesn’t slide off the face or on the floor.
