Mary & May vegan blackberry complex cream essence review

Lately, I’ve been really obsessed with toners and essences.ย  I have to thank Dr. Ceuracle’s vegan kombucha tea essence for creating this new obsession.ย  When I first laid eyes on the Mary & May vegan blackberry complex cream essence, it immediately made me think of the Dr. Ceuracle version and I knew I had to try it.ย  What I was hoping for was a product either similar to or better than the kombucha tea.ย  Both versions are vegan, the packaging is relatively the same, and both have a cream separation that needs to be shaken before usage.ย  Let’s get into the review and see if this can beat one of my holy grail cream essences!

Ingredients:
Water,ย Nymphaea Caerulea Flower Water,ย Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil,ย Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin),ย Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract,ย 1,2-Hexanediol,ย Methylpropanediol,ย Centella Asiatica Extract,ย Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract,ย Hydrolyzed Gardenia Florida Extract,ย Sodium Hyaluronate,ย Hydrogenated Lecithin,ย Butylene Glycol,ย Glycerin,ย Trilaureth-4 Phosphate,ย Sodium Polyacrylate,ย Pvm/โ€‹Ma Copolymer,ย Cyanocobalamin,ย Ceramide NP,ย Maltodextrin,ย Ethylhexylglycerin,ย Tocopherol

How to use:
Shake the contents to mix the cream layer and the essence layer before use.ย  Take an appropriate amount on the palm of your hand and let it absorb.

Product packaging:
First off, the packaging is the absolute same as the Dr. Ceuracle kombucha cream essence.ย  The bottle is the same, and the lid is the same but just different color.ย  This is a glass bottle, so if you do want to travel with it, most definitely decant it into a plastic container for on-the-go use.

Texture/ Finish:
When you first get it and it has been sitting upright, you can see a clear separation between the cream and the essence.ย  You simply shake it up and it turns into a creamy liquid afterward.ย  To my surprise, the essence isn’t that thick at all.ย  It is on the more lightweight side and absorbs into my dry skin quickly.

Even though there is jojoba seed oil and ceramide NP in the formula, I personally didn’t feel like it was hydrating or nourishing enough for my liking.ย  This is nothing like the Dr. Ceuracle kombucha tea essence!ย  This Mary & May version would be perfect for those with normal to oily skin types, or if you need a light hydration step before your moisturizer.

Effects/ results:
I really didn’t find this cream essence to do much for me.ย  This most likely just didn’t work well with my dry skin type, however, I can definitely see those with normal to oily skin types enjoying this.ย  This would have been the perfect balance of nourishment and hydration for those skin types.ย  Other than light hydration though, I also didn’t find this essence to do much for my other skin concerns.

Fragrance?:
Oddly enough, this cream essence kind of smells like red beans (adzuki beans) and not blackberries at all.ย  Smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and the fragrance does fade after application.

Pro:
-hydrating
-absorbs into the skin effortlessly

Con:
-not nourishing enough
-didn’t do much for my dry skin

Repurchase?:
No

Overall thoughts:
I think this is a decent product, but it definitely did not work with my dry skin type.ย  The centella extract did soothe my skin slightly, however, the overall formula just didn’t do much for my skin. Overall I think this is a very forgettable product that I most likely will just pass on to a friend.ย  It’s a meh product for me but if you have normal to oily skin and have tried this cream essence out, please share your thoughts and opinion in the comment section down below!
