I’m meme I’m corrector Review, swatches, demo

I'm meme I'm corrector reviewKorea is definitely jumping on the color correcting bandwagon with brands like Clio, Etude House and now even Memebox coming out with their own versions of color correcting products.  I got these a while ago but have been testing them thoroughly.  I personally am not too into the whole colour correcting thing since I find it makes my skin look very odd, or maybe it’s just because I haven’t found the right color correcting products I like just yet. You do have to use these underneath your regular base make up or else you’d look very weird with mint and lavender all over your face.  Let’s test out I’m Meme’s I’m correctors and see if they are any good.  Lets go~

How to use:
I'm meme I'm corrector review
If you haven’t heard of colour correcting, it is pretty much using the opposite colour on the colour wheel to tackle complexion problems.  So green cancels out redness, lavender brightens up yellow tones (so best used for yellow undertoned skin colours), and salmon/ beige cancels out blueish tones (usually under the eyes).  Other then the three main color correcting shades, this line also includes a contour shade and a brightening flesh tone shade, there is also a highlighter as well.

I'm meme I'm corrector reviewProduct packaging:
I kind of have a love hate relationship with the packaging. I love that it comes in a very easy to carry chubby clicky pen which dispenses product through the brush.  I don’t like that it has a brush applicator since it is hard to clean and any product left on the brush will slightly dry up and get a little pasty.  The overall packaging is very nice and sleek and the shade names are printed on the tube also but you’d have to shine some light on it to see the name since the information is in a shiny black font.  One thing I do appreciate is the shade indicator at the end of each tube which is easy to pinpoint which shade is which when it is sitting in my collection.

I'm meme I'm corrector reviewColor/ Pigmentation:
Pigmentation for the color corrections really isn’t that pigmented and it blends out almost translucent with a tint of colour.  I’ve tried and tried the mint and lavender the most and honestly can’t say it does that much difference for me to want to incorporate another step in my make up routine.  The best shade out of all of them is definitely #C004 shading brown.  This has to be one of the best liquid contour products I have tried although I wish the colour wasn’t so warm, although it blends out nicely and does contour my face effortlessly.  #C004 is a good attempt at a liquid highlighter but being spoiled from the Becaa liquid highlighters, these just don’t compare.  If you are looking for a sheer and natural looking highlighter, this one may be for you.  I personally didn’t use much of #C001 brightening ivory or #C002 brightening beige since I didn’t really find much use for it on my skin concerns.

I'm meme I'm corrector reviewBlended out, these don’t really show on the skin.  This can be a good and bad thing, good since it won’t be as apparent after you have applied base makeup over it but bad since it doesn’t really aid in color correcting that much.  Again, I’d go for the shading brown since that one is truly pigmented and does show up well on the skin.  Then again, that isn’t a colour-correcting LOL, so if you need a contour product, there ya go.

Texture/ Finish:
The first application to the skin, these are super creamy and seem to blend into the skin nicely.  For some reason, all the color-correcting shades (hide mint, lavender, brightening beige) have this pasty quality to them after being blended out.  You know when you try to blend in your foundation but your skin is dry and your foundation kind of balls up and looks extra dry, this is kind of what happens with these three shades.  I’ve tried wetting my sponge beforehand, but that doesn’t really help either and just wipes away the product.

The shading brown however is a completely different story and blends into the skin like a dry.  Illuminating pink applies on the skin on the problem and doesn’t go on the skin like that pasty pink shade your seeing in my picture.  Instead, it is more of a fine light pink, purple and gold iridescent finish you’d find in a lot of pinky highlighters.

Lasting power:
I honestly can’t speak on the lasting power since it blends in a little too translucent for me to even tell.  My base make up stays on the same amount of time with or without the color correctors and my skin doesn’t look that much more different.  If we’re speaking on lasting power along with my regular base makeup, I’d say it is an average 4-6 hours with my dewy finish, un-powdered face.

Fragrance?:
These color correctors have a soapy floral scent to them, are not very strong, and disappear after application.  Smell-o-scale= 4/10in terms of how strong the fragrance is.

im-meme-im-correctorOkay demo time!  I personally don’t have that many skin concerns other then my dry skin, flaky skin especially around my house and the slight redness I have around my cheeks, nose and kind of on my cheek.  I also have dark circles I’d love to cover but I usually do that with a separate concealer.

I'm meme i'm corrector in mintFirst off, the hide mint.  There is a definite difference from the left (before) and right (after) but like I said before, it is the type that blanks out my complexion to a weird ghostly colour which I’m not a fan of. Also since these are on the sheer side, I can’t really imagine anyone with redness higher then mine enjoying these since these are definitely not high in coverage.

im meme hide lavenderNow to try the lavender to brighten up the complexion.  LOL seriously.. kinda no different to be honest.

Korean color correctorOkay so this is what I’m talking about the product getting pasty when you blend it out.  My skin was moisturized and wasn’t in a dry state so I don’t understand why this would happen.  Maybe it is because of the leftover from the brush tip?  I don’t think so though since I made sure to press enough out to get some fresh product.

Korean color correctorNow to contour.  Remember guys, don’t just do the “3” method but actually look at the shape of YOUR face in the mirror and see what you need to hide.  I’d suggest you google up “contouring face shapes” and study that up.  I personally have a diamond shape (I think) face where my jaw is relatively wide and I also have a five finger forehead so that is where I usually like to focus on contouring on.  I “shave” off  mostly the side of my jaw, angle up my chin and also contour my forehead.  I went a little too heavy on the forehead but it looked okay after I did both shades along with the rest of my make up.

Korean color corrector

im meme im corrector shading brownBefore (left) and after (right).  This is one shade I definitely approve of getting. I just wish they came out with more shades and hopefully one with a more grey undertone for a more natural look.  I also want to see more darker shades to suit darker skintones because we are not all one shade!

All blended out, everything looks quite natural and you can definitely tell a difference.

img_7116After I applied blush, I applied illuminating pink over to highlight the high points of my face.

img_7128

img_7129With everything done, I can’t tell a difference at all with or with out the colour correctors.

Pro:
-easy to use
-sleek packaging
-decent colour shades

Con:
-too sheer to tell a difference

Repurchase?:
Contour and highlighting shade I’d consider repurchasing but the others, no.

Overall thoughts:
I was really hyped to test these out after I saw the release of these products on the Korean Memebox site.  I was all for color correcting, the whole trend and the method but unfortunately these didn’t live up to my expectations.  The three main colour correcting shades were too sheer to do anything after it is blended out and with someone’s skin like mine where the problem isn’t that big, I can’t imagine those who’s redness is stronger then mine to like these.  For me, these were okay products but I’m keeping in mind everyone else’s needs as well.  With that in mind, I can’t recommend these products.  The ones I can recommend is the shading brown and maybe the illuminating pink if you like a natural highlighter.  Overall these products just didn’t live up to my expectations and if you were looking for Korean colour correcting products, these I’d say pass.  They were okay, but not good enough to try and make them work.

Have you guys tried Korean colour correctors?  Any good ones you are enjoying?  I’ve got my eye on Clio’s kill cover ones that also come in the three main colour correcting shades.  Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below!Blog Disclaimer
