Description of product:
“Triple filter brighten green light of skin, always morning skin with Morning radiance cushion.
Why does that morning skin right after cleansing seem so beautiful?  The answer is the green light..”

Okay I’m not even going to bother trying to make sense of their English translation.  It’s absolutely horrible.  Basically what they are trying to say is that this cushion is suppose to give you that “morning” glow (which I never have since my skin is dry af) and is suppose to be hydrate the skin almost double.  They gave an example in the picture where the girl’s skin before was 33% moisture and after was 66%.  Also it is suppose to give you good coverage, medium coverage I assume from the pictures they are advertising with, along with a brightening effect.

How to use:
Once you have finished your skincare or any other steps to prime the skin, take your air puff and lightly dab the product onto the sponge.  Then dab onto areas of the face you’d like coverage.  If you want higher cover, you can choose to use a dense brush as well.

Etude House any cushion cream filterProduct packaging:
As of lately, it seems like the K-beauty world is moving towards thinner BB cushion compacts and also ditching the traditional sponge soaked BB cushions.  Brands like Missha, Etude House, Swisspure, A’pieu, all have already taken the next step into the mesh cushion world.  Of course Etude House is no exception.  Their holographic packaging is captivating, along with their hilarious commercial with the actor from Train to Busan.  I think this video might even be the most watched video from Etude House with 1.3 million views compared to their regular videos which only has couple thousand views.

img_7056On the back of the compact is a sticker indicating the product name, shade name and other general information you’d find.

img_7058The compact itself is also significantly thinner then the traditional compacts.  Here’s a side by side comparison with their precious mineral any cushion compact.  It is almost half the size!  I do have to say the push button for the any cushion cream filter makes it a little bit hard for the lid to release but other then that, I don’t have much to complain about in the packaging department.

Etude House any cushion cream filterOnce you open the compact, you’ll see the regular air puff you’d get in any BB cushions and a nice sized mirror.  Flipping the lid, you’ll find the mesh that houses the cream “foundation”.  When you do use this, make sure not to press super hard since the foundation will squirt out if you do.

Etude House any cushion cream filterColor/ Pigmentation:
Etude house may be one of the few K-beauty brands to offer more then two shades.  With this cushion, they have an impressive 5 shades to selection from, ranging from #19-#23.  I picked out shade #21 beige which surprisingly is a decent fit for my Mac NC25 yellow undertone skin type.

Etude House any cushion cream filterBlended into the skin, the shade worked not too bad but if I were to pick again, I would have gotten shade ##22 natural sand.  The promo pictures look absolutely horrible and I wish there was swatches from bloggers out at that time but there wasn’t, so I just played the guessing game.  I think because it has such low coverage, even though the shade is a little too pale for me, it still worked fine.

Etude House any cushion cream filterCompared to their regular sponge cushions, the #21 beige is definitely a lot paler and also pasty looking for some reason.

Texture/ Finish:
With first ten minutes of application, the cushion gave a light dewy finish.  It didn’t seem to set for a while and transferred easily.  I remember there was one time when I was trying to blend concealer into my under eyes, the cushion completely transferred off of my face and you can see my finger print.  It was quite frustrating and for a while, it didn’t set for some reason.  Do keep in mind when I test cushions out, I use nothing else but the cushion itself.  No primer, no setting powder, nothing.  After about 15 minutes when it finally has set, it gave my dry skin a satin to matte finish after I have applied all my contour, blush and contour products.  Unfortunately, I can already see the product kind of separating. It is a very odd formula where it is trying to be moisturizing but the formulation wasn’t done right, so you can see it not adhering well to the skin.  This situation also reminds me Peri Pera’s water moist cushion where it was super dewy but there was no coverage and no adherence to the skin.

Coverage:
This cushion claims to give you at least a medium coverage, well at least that was what they were promoting in their pictures.  If you guys know me or have been with me for a while, you know I don’t mind a low to medium coverage cushion, something I actually prefer.  But with this cushion, the coverage is so low, it just set a new standard of low for K-beauty cushions LOL. I never knew that was possible.  I would be patting the product into my skin and it’s like I didn’t do anything.  They also advertised that if you use the brush that they just released, which is one of those dense rectangular brushes, you would be able to get higher coverage.  I don’t have that exact brush in synthetic form so I used a dense kabuki brush and I didn’t like the finish.  Because the formula doesn’t seem to emulsify together, it accentuated my dryness even more which isn’t something I like.

Lasting power:
To be honest, I don’t even know to say about the lasting power LOL.  At most, it lasted about 4 hours before pretty much disintegrating into thin air. The coverage already started off low, so it really didn’t look like much on the skin.

Fragrance?:
This cushion smells just like any other Etude House cushion, slight floral soapy scent.  The scent is not strong and it disappears after application.  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of the strength of it fragrance.

img_6975Onto the fun part!  Demo time~

img_6976Here are my requirements I’m looking for in BB cushions with my skin type and skin concerns:
-moisturizing, doesn’t cling into dry patches
-gives low or medium coverage, full coverage a bonus
-dewy finish preferred but I can also work with satin finish
-evens out my redness around the cheeks and nose
-conceals my under eyes is a bonus although I usually use a separate concealer

Etude House any cushion cream filterimg_6979Again, make sure you don’t press too hard.  you should be able to get product onto the air puff just like this.

img_6980And then, stamp away!
etude-house-any-cushion-cream-filter-before-and-afterBefore and after.  Pretty much… not much difference LOL.

img_6986Closer look.  Can you tell a difference? LOL

img_6988The finish is not too bad but it does get drying for me quickly, especially around the nose area.

img_6989Dense brush = full coverage?  Fine, let’s try that too.

img_6995

etude-house-any-cushion-cream-filter-2Can you see a difference?  Far away you can’t really see a difference but up close, it seems like using a brush soaks up some of the moisture and does “give a higher coverage”.  For me, it just made it look dryer for me so that didn’t really work with my favour.  I definitely prefer using the air puff provided.

Etude House any cushion cream filterTV magic!  Full face of make up done haha.

img_7004The finish definitely is not dewy no more with all that contour, blush and highlighter.

etude-house-any-cushion-cream-filter-afterPro:
-good colour selection
-great slim compact design update

Con:
-low coverage
-formula isn’t formulated well; doesn’t seem to be emulsified
-doesn’t give my skin the dewy finish it advertises

Repurchase?:
Most definitely not.

Stars given out of 5:

Overall thoughts:
Out of the 20+ cushions I have tried so far, this has to be one of, if not the worse cushion I have tried.  With its super low coverage and weird formulation that doesn’t seem to emulsify properly on the skin, this cushion offers nothing for me and my dry skin.  It dries down to a satin/ matte finish and it also has no lasting power.  When this product was in the mail coming to me, I saw a review on Youtube and it was a really negative one.  I thought, you know what… maybe I can work with it and use it like a CC cushion since it is suppose to give the skin a nice dewy finish. Nope…. I’m most likely just going to wash out the product and use the compact for something.

I have read from some other people’s experience that they actually like this cushion.  They appreciate that it does have low coverage and that it is moisturizing.  So those who like it, really like it but for those who expect more from a cushion would definitely not like this.  I personally cannot find myself to like this cushion one bit after trying other amazing cushions like A’pieu air fitBeauty people, J.one jelly cushion just to name a few. Overall I can’t recommend this cushion and would definitely say skip this one.  NEXT~

Hi! Just curious, what is the brand of the big, dense brush you used & where did you get it from? 🙂

It is actually a kabuki brush from coastalscents.com i got a long time ago. It doesn’t seem like they sell it amore but there is a brush similar to it in the 22 piece brush set that I also love. It is on half price at the moment!! $17.98 for 22 pieces, black friday deal :).
