Moonshot micro glassyfit cushion review I Glass skin in a compact?

I think at this point, it is safe to say that Moonshot is frinkin killing the base make up game.  Yesterday when I checked the website, they’ve already come out with yet another BB cushion and I’m totally here for it.  The description said it is like the micro correct fit cushion but improved.  Anyways, we’re not here to talk about that cushion but the micro glassyfit cushion!!  I’m hoping this is like the micro correct fit cushion but a more moisturizing a dewy version, so let’s get into it!

Product packaging:
Moonshot always kills it with their BB compact design.  This glassyfit version comes on a purple holographic compact with a light pink base.  It is so pretty but it also attracts quite a few fingerprints.  When I first placed my order with Jolse two months ago and thought 301 honey would work better for my skin, the swatch scared me off into thinking it was a little too orange and dark.  The BB cushion usually comes in a box like above for $15 right now on Jolse.  There is no refill but if you are getting the cushion on sale for on average $15 on Jolse, I think that is a fair price.

So when I went shopping again this month, I picked up 201 Beige and they had a gift set which came in this box with two extra air puffs as a gift for the same price $15.

Again, this gift set doesn’t come with the refill *sigh*.

Whoever is on the design team for Moonshot, give them a damn raise.  And whoever else is the one formulating these magic products, give them a damn raise too please.

This is a pretty standard BB cushion case.  You flip it open and viola, there is a nice sized mirror, good for on the go as well as a lid to cover the soaked sponge.

I really like their air puff shape as well as the consistency of the air puff itself.  It is a little bit denser than the dark blue ones which seem more flimsy.  This purple one feels a little bit doughy too and just blends the BB cushion so well.  There is also a slight point to the top of the air puff, making it easy to get into the sides of your face.

Colour/ pigmentation:
Again, we have the same issue with K-beauty shade ranges.  It is practically non-existent but it is catered towards Asian skintones.  Still, they think everyone fits in 2 or 3 shades and the whole population walks around looking like Casper.  Anyways, I picked up 301 Honey and when I went to swatch it on the back of my hand, it looked a bit too dark and orange.

201 beige is like a 3 tone skip from 301 and there is not a good medium at all.  It is far too pasty pale and is quite neutral without any strong yellow or pink undertones.

201 Beige: Neutral shade that would usually be labeled #21; very “brightening” (I look like Chinese Vampire with it on, you know the one that hops towards you while it chases you)

301 Honey: Slightly orangey neutral shade that would usually be #23; blends out into my Mac NC25 yellow skin tone quite well but I’m still iffy about it

Okay the fun part, let’s try it on

Here is my face with a little bit of VDL lumilayer primer.  I don’t usually put primers on beforehand but I was doing another review and thought I’d just leave it on since it is mostly just an illuminating primer without any silicone or such to interfere with the formula.

Texture/ Finish + coverage:
Using the micro correct fit cushion as well as the foundation and being so impressed with the adherence of the formula and how it sits so flawlessly on my skin, I was expecting this to be relatively the same but with hydrating benefits.  This is definitely more hydrating than the micro correct fit counterpart, BUT…

Let me leave you on a cliff hanger for a second.  The coverage is light to medium with the first application and can be built up to solid medium coverage but definitely not high coverage.

And here is shade 301 honey on the left side of my face.  Can you see how vast the jump is from 201 to 301.  My goodness.  At least 301 does actually kind of match my skin.  I just don’t get why the shades don’t match the other cushion shades.  With the micro correct fit cushion and foundation, I was able to use 201 no problem.

Here’s a bigger picture to compare 301 Beige…

And 201 Beige, brightening as fuck.  And when I say brightening, its like that pasty, kind of powdery and not flattering looking brightening.

And with the full face.  I didn’t have any issues with layering the cream contour, blush, and highlighter which is a good sign.  With everything on, 201 beige doesn’t look too bad but it still looks too pale in my opinion, and for my liking.

Okay back to the texture of this BB cushion.  I’m sad to say it isn’t as good as the micro correctfit cushion and foundation.  It sits on the skin a little bit off and you can see a lot more texture on my skin.  The glow isn’t as glass skin as I was expecting either but far away, it doesn’t look half bad.

The formula did cling onto my nose HARD and you could see all the dry skin patches even though I already exfoliated super well the night before.

Lasting power:
I usually don’t set my base make up with powder since I use all liquid and cream products.  This cushion lasted on my dry skin on average 5 hours before fading around my cheeks and dried down quite a bit at the 3 hour mark (my skin is dry af).  It doesn’t have a bad lasting power but the micro correctfit is definitely a lot better but does dry my skin it a little bit which is a given.

Fragrance?:
There is a slight soapy floral fragrance but definitely nothing too strong.  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong it is and it does fade after application.

Pro:
-slightly hydrating but not as dewy as I’d like
-nice texture to air puff

Con:
-shade range is practically non-existent
-clings onto dry patches

Overall thoughts:
Honestly I’m kind of disappointed.  With my dry skin and my want for eternal dewy skin, the glassyfit cushion sounds like heaven but didn’t deliver in the end.  It’s not a bad cushion but I definitely expected more with how amazing their other cushions and foundations were.  Far away it looks beautiful but close up, you can see my dry nose and texture on my cheeks which is a no go for me.  Overall this is an okay cushion but definitely not going to be one I’ll be reaching for often.
