Memebox I'm cleansing oil reviewCleansing oil is a must in any skincare routine, especially if you wear make up. If you don’t know what cleansing oil is, where have you been!! ย Its been around for decades and have recently become more popular due to the widespread of Korean skincare 10 step routine. ย Memebox has been expanding their in house brand and now has their own cleansing oil!ย You guys know I’ve been loving my Etude House Real art cleansing oil in the deep moisture version. ย I’ve tried Shu Uemera‘s cleansing oil and also the Body Shop one innocently since it came in a gift with purchase type thing. ย I didn’t like either of them but instead fell in love with the Etude House one. ย Hopefully these will live up to my excitement. ย Let’s get on with the review, the intro has gone on for too long keke. Korean cleansing oil
There are two versions available, fresh oil which is suited for oily skin type and moist oil for dry skin folks. ย I actually mistakenly used the fresh oil one thinking it was the moist oil for the longest time and was wondering to myself why my skin still felt slightly tight after using it. ย THEN three weeks later, I finally noticed that the pink one was the moist version. ย Silly silly girl. ย So that proves that there is a difference within the two versions available, please choose accordingly.

Affordable cleansing oil

I'm meme cleansing oilLook guys!! It’s even animal testing free!!! YEY! ย It is really hard to find products that are animal testing free since there is no marking on K-beauty packaging. ย Either that or we just can’t read it haha. ย But unlike how here in North America where we have the little bunny symbol to indicate if it isย animalย testing free or not, it isn’t a widely used thing in the K-beauty realm. I’m gladย that this didn’t harm any animals in the making though.

Product packaging:Memebox I'm cleansing oil reviewThese cleansing oil comes in a very simple plastic bottle. ย Not much to it but just a clear bottle with the name printed in the front, along with the general information. ย One thing I do have to nit pick about is the pump. ย When you first get it, it comes with the little stopper that “locks” the pump. ย I don’t really like that they couldn’t have built in the lock function into the pump itself because let’s say you were to lose the stopper, you’re pretty much screwed. ย Forget about even traveling with it without the stopper because it would just be a pumping party in your suit case. ย The pump itself is very easy to control but I wish it had slightly more resistance. ย Overall not bad, but I’d love to see the stopper be built into it.

How to use:
If you haven’t used cleansing oils before, here is how it works.
immeme-cleansingoil-illustration1) Apply the oil on your face DRY. ย Yes I said dry. ย This will help break down the make up.

2) Once you have done a good job with breaking everything down, dampen your hands and proceed to continuing with massaging your face. ย At this point, the oil will turn milky.

contentimage-imcleansingoil-howto2
3) Proceed to rinsing off the oil with water and continue on with your regular skincare routine (cleansing, toner, serums/essence, moisturizer, facial oil).

These general rules apply to any type of cleansing oil, not just the one from Memebox.

Texture/ Finish:
Unlike my Etude House cleansing oil, this one is a lot thinner since it isn’t built to leave my skin super moisturized. ย Both the moist and fresh oil have the same consistency, which is kind of like water and not like cooking oil which is good for those of you who don’t want a greasy finish to the skin. ย Again, there is a big difference when I used the fresh oil one which made my skin slightly tight so please do pick the right one for your skin! ย If you don’t, you’ll still be covered on Memebox’s awesome return policy of 101 days so no worries!

Moisture level measurements:

From the measurements I have provided with real life experiences and my moisture measurement tool, you can see that the cleansing oils doesn’t really give you a hydration boost. It does leave your skin pretty much the way it is with the sprinkle of hydration, but other then that you shouldn’t expect this to replace your moisturizer or anything.

pH level:
This product has a pH level of 5 which is the same as human skin’s regular pH, so you know this won’t irritate your skin!

Fragrance?:
Both cleansing oils have a slight fruity floral fragrance, smell-o-scale=5/10. ย It isn’t too strong and doesn’tย irritateย my skin.

Let’s do a little demo to see how this product preforms!Memebox cleansing oilJust for you guys, I packed on the make up. ย Heavy contouring, dark eyeshadow, you name it.

Cleansing oil reviewAgain I should be using the moist version but my dumb ass didn’t know this was the oily skin version. ย No matter since they both have the same consistency and both does the same job, just the finish is a little different.

memebox cleansing oilCloser look to see how much make up I really have on. ย I never get to step out of the house with this much makeup on, maybe just once or twice a year. ย My boyfriend needs to take me out more HAHA! ย I like getting my face beat with five pounds of make up from time to time.

Cleansing oil how toThat glow tho! ย I totally pumped out too much oil, one pump does the trick but I went a little nuts and used two pumps.

IMG_0982When you feel like you have broken down the make up enough with the oil, dampen your hands with water and continue to massage your face.

IMG_0983You will notice the water and oil start to emulsify and turn into this milky consistency.
IMG_0985Rinse the oil away and you are left with this. ย Don’t worry, I know I still have a black eye HAHA. ย I don’t like to get into the eye area because the oil gets into my eye balls and make my vision blurry for a goof 5 minutes. ย I’d rather go in there with a Q-tip and make up remover. ย However you can see the rest of my face is now make up free. ย It is that easy!
IMG_0987You can do this after your cleansing step but it is bothering me, so I will do it now.

IMG_0988And you are done with the cleansing step! ย It really is that easy. ย I cringe when I see others using cleansing tissues and going it at it to their skin. It is like nails on a chalkboard for me. ย I just want to throw a bottle of cleansing oil at them and tell them to use it. ย DON’T TUG DAMN IT!

Pro:
-affordable price of $14 for 195 mL
-easy to use; performs well
-not greasy/ lightweight

Con:
-moist version not hydrating enough for my liking

Overall:
If you are in the market for a cleansing oil or cleansing oil, this would be a great beginner product or if you are just in the market for an affordable option. ย Out of the five cleansing oils, I have tried so far in my lifetime, this would rank to be right in the middle between Banila Co’s and Etude House which is my most favourite. ย I think I am just too used to my Etude House formula which is slightly thicker then this one and I can really feel it coating my skin, whereas because Memebox’s cleansing oil is on the more lightweight watery side, I don’t know where to stop and end up using too much. ย Being lightweight definitely is not a bad thing, especially if I want to use this product during the day time and don’t need something heavy, this would be the one I’d turn to. ย This product also reminds me of Shu Uemera’s cleansing oil in terms of texture and performance, but of course that one is double in price which I can not see why since it isn’t that good. ย Way too much hype around it and not enough in the results department. ย Overall it does the job well, doesn’t irritate my skin and is affordable so I’d recommend this to anyone in the market for a make up remover that won’t break the bank. ย Definitely give this product a try and let me know how it works out for you!

What do you guys think about this product? ย Have you tried this one in specific or which brand produces your favourite cleansing oil? ย Let me know in the comments down below.ย ๏พ(=๏ฟฃโˆ‡๏ฟฃ)๏พ‰

AHAHAHAHA! I know what you mean with the blurry vision! I hate it when that happens, ugh.
I’m in the market for a new cleansing oil since I am all out of my Innisfree one. I think I’ll check out the Etude House one, since it’s more easily available than the Memebox ones. I hope they make a variant for combination skin!
