Makeon Dual shaking lip tint Review + Swatches

Makeon dual shaking lip tint review and swatchesLip tints have been all the rage out in the East. ย It is no surprise to see every company out there come out with their versions of lip tints, from watery type, peel off to now this new species where it contains the tint and the oil separated like a lava lamp. ย Along with the Makeon gel liner set, I was also sent these Tosowoong Dual shaking lip tints by Roseroseshop to review. ย I actually owned one of the shades already from winning a Instagram giveaway by Tosowoong, so this product was no stranger to me. ย If you have been around the K-beauty block for a while now, things don’t shock you as much as they do when you first get into it. I remembered back in the day, I would get so turned off when someone told me this BB cream had snail slime in it. ย Now? ย I run to that product and slather it all over my face. ย How things have changed eh? ย Anyways, let’s get started with the review! Annnnnd…. GO!ย (/^โ–ฝ^)/

IMG_0750Product packaging:
When you first get these lip tints, they come in this cardboard box with the eye catching shades incorporated into the text so you know which shade is which. ย

IMG_0751 Makeon dual shaking lip tint reviewThe actual packaging itself is a straight forward plastic tube with a black plastic twist off cap and a clear bottom. ย Inside you can see the tint sunken at the bottom and clear oil on top. ย This does remind me a lot of a lava lamp don’t you think?IMG_0754IMG_0759Inside is a traditional doe foot applicator on a clear stick. ย The doe foot comes as a slant for easier application. I think this applicator works well enough, not the best but not bad.

IMG_0756How to use:
Before you use this product, make sure to shake it up well like what the name says. The first time I used it long ago, I was turned off by this product because it felt super greasy on the lips. ย With that impression in mind, this time around I expected the same thing but surprisingly it wasn’t as bad as I remembered. ย You can use this as a gradation lip stain or all over the lip but with my experience, it is best to just use it all over your lips because this stain dries way too fast for you to be able to play around with it.

IMG_0764Color/ Pigmentation:
These tints are one of the more pigmented ones out there with a very buildable nature. ย If you wanted a natural look, I wouldn’t suggest these to you because it isn’t a texture that is easier to work with. ย I will cover that down below in the texture and finish section.
#1 orange lip tint: True warm toned orange popsicle shade
#2 vampire lip tint:
Purple dark red shade
#3 Blood lip tint:
Warm toned bright red shade

The three shades that are available are unique and different enough for you to want to buy all three. ย Of course you would have personal preferences. ย I can’t really decide which shade I would pick if I was only given the option to purchase one. But if there was a gun to my head and they told me “PICK ONE OR WE’LL BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT”, Vampire lip tint then! ย GEEZ. ย HAHA

Texture/ finish:
From my past experiences, lip tints are usually slightly watery, sometimes a gel texture and is easily buildable with your fingers to a more natural look whether it is on the cheeks or on the lips. ย This lip tint from Tosowoong Makeon has a very odd texture. ย It is slightly oily and the tint sits on the skin like water droplets. ย By the time you blend it out, the droplets have already stained your skin, making the end effect looking uneven. ย I tried doing the gradation look but it was almost impossible since you need to blend it out, then the tint dries down by the time you finish trying to make it look nice and then you end up just having to apply the tint all over your lips.

There is also a plumping effect to this tint which is one of their selling points of that “perfect sexy pout”. ย I have a blogger friend from France called Sabrinaย who also got sent these products. ย We would just chit chat and one day she messaged me asking if I tried these tints yet. I said I have in the past but not recently and I proceeded to ask why. ย She told me she tested out the lip tints and her lips reacted to them and pretty much turned her lips into a blow puff type of situation. ย Okay, maybe not that bad but she said her lips was super painful. ย It took her about three days to heal and thank god it wasn’t anything severe. ย Moral of the story? ย If you have sensitive lips, you might want to stay away from this product. ย I don’t have sensitive lips but I did find the plumping effecting/ ingredients in this lip tint to be slightly uncomfortable. ย I’m used to plumping products or even spicy food touching my lips, but this one kind of felt like real needles were puncturing my lips. ย Kind of hurt, kind of didn’t but still uncomfortable.
IMG_0763Lasting power:
These have a ridiculously long lasting power, so much so that the stain could stay on my lips for two days even after I have scrubbed it with make up remover! ย I was planning to take pictures of all three of the lip tints on my lips but the orange shade would not get off my lips! With regular use, the slight glossiness stayed on the lips for about 4 hours before fading and at that point, I needed some type of lip balm to moisturizer. ย After that, the stain just stayed on my lips for dear life.

Fragrance?:
These do have a scent to them, a peppermint scent actually. I personally am not a big fan of minty scents because it just reminds me of toothpaste, even mint gum I’m not a big fan of. ย The smell doesn’t bother me but I’d rather have no scent. ย Smell-o-scale= 5/10 in terms of the strength of the scent.

Okay let’s see how these preform!

IMG_1082First you will have to shake it up!

IMG_1084Application for this product is super easy but slightly hard to maneuver around since the oil texture is hard to control.

IMG_1090These lip tints are super vibrant on the lips. ย So pretty! The tint does slightly bleed/ feather into fine lines if you look closely to my bottom lip.
IMG_1096The tint effect. ย It doesn’t look like there is much difference but there is definitely a noticeable difference. ย This is after I have tried and scrub off the tint but it wasn’t budging haha.ย

Pro:
-gorgeous vibrant tint
-slightly more moisturizing then normal watery tints
-plumping ability

Con:
-texture hard to work with
-not for sensitive lips

Overall thoughts:
I think this is a good product but definitely on the pricy side. ย If you were to buy it right now for 5,000 won on Roseroseshop, it would be worth it if you were just curious and wanted to try something quirky. ย But if you were to purchase this for full retail price, I wouldn’t recommend it since there are so many other lip tints on the market from Korea that are just as good if not better for a fraction of the price. ย To name a few, Y.E.T, Etude Houseย andย Tony Molyย all produce very affordable and good quality lip tints if you are looking for any. ย Overall I think this product is good if you don’t have sensitive lips, want something with built in plumping effects and don’t mind spending a bit more for the quirkiness of it. ย A solid product, just not for me.

What do you guys think about this product? ย Have you tried anything of this sort? ย What are your thoughts on it? ย Let me know in the comments down below :).

I’m from another planet lol xD I love mine so much and it isn’t even my favorite color (got orange) I mix it with a berry shine color to pink it up. The stain indeed lasts soooo long. But I didn’t hurt my lips at all, how weird. (did you check the date? My only con about this product is that it leaks oil from the packaging, always have to keep it straight up.

Maybe my lips were just a little more sensitive that day since it was quite dry. But yes the formula is really long lasting. I don’t have a problem with it leaking though.
