Klairs BB cream came in this well designed box,ย mimickingย the actual BB cream tube. ย I’m also really glad that they had a full translation of important information (Uses, Caution, Ingredients list, product name and description) us consumers usually look for right on the box and in English! ย Hell yea!

Klairs

IMG_0312

Klairs illuminating supple blemish creamThe BB cream itself comes in a simple tube with a screw on black plastic cap. ย I actually really appreciate the toothpaste type tube since you would be able to identify how much product is left in the container. ย You can also get every last drop of it which is always a good thing! ย No wasting productย โˆฉ(๏ธถโ–ฝ๏ธถ)โˆฉ.

Klairs illuminating supple blemish creamThe squeeze tip is just your standard, narrow opening. ย Out of product’s packaging sanitary rating, I’d give it a 4 out of five, since we all know the airtight type is better bacteria growth wise. ย This one will suck in air every time you squeeze, but honestly it isn’t a big big deal since the shelf life is 1 year.

How to use:
With BB creams, you can always use it either as a replacement for your foundation or use it as a base for your foundations. ย People mostly choose to use BB creams as a replacement since it is lighter on the skin and most of the time it is good enough coverage anyways. ย Use adequate amount to cover up your blemishes and even out your skintone either with your fingers, sponge or brush.

Klairs BB cream swatchColor/ Pigmentation:
Just like the description of this product said, this is a BB cream with no gray undertones. ย The first ever BB cream, which was the Skin 19 Hot Pink BB cream, had only one shade and they all had a slight gray cast. ย When applied onto the skin, it was fine…until I stepped outside my house. I’d then look in the mirror and I literally looked like the walking dead. ย I understand if the pale look was a big trend in Asia, but I don’t want to be looking like a zombie with a weird gray undertone. ย Like I have said before, BB creams have come a long long way and most companies have advanced and ditched the gray undertone. ย

I’m pleased to report this BB cream has absolutely no gray undertones. ย The color is right in between a yellow and pink undertone, making it perfect for almost anyone in the skintone range of MAC NC/NW 15-30. ย My skintone shade is NC25 and it blended into my skin perfectly! ย I didn’t even use any on my neck and there was no floating pale face effect. ย YEY!

Texture/ Finish:
From the name “illuminating”, I was expecting this to work for my dry skin. ย My BB cream/cushion and foundation preferences is to have a dewy finish to look as natural on my skin type as possible, but sadly this BB cream has a more satin finish leaning towards matte throughout the day. ย On my skin, it clings onto my dry patches so I made sure to exfoliate well with my Secret Key Lemon D-toc peeling gel. After Iย exfoliatedย my skin, the BB cream went on more smoothly. ย Sadly because my skin is not perfect, all the little bumps were easilyย visible. ย It looked fine from a far but if you were to come up close to me, it looks like I’m wearing heavy make up.

This can be fixed by mixing either couple drops of facial oil and then applying it to the face or even mixing it with some moisturizer. ย However for the purpose of reviewing just the product in it’s true nature, I will not be basing off my review by altercations.

Coverage:
This BB provided a light to medium coverage with a buildable formula. ย With two layers, the BB cream did not cake up and melted into the skin nicely. ย I was pleasantly surprised to find out the product canceled out redness very easily and well! ย With no gray undertones, this BB cream handled that department like a champ!

Lasting power:
I had no problems with lasting power. ย When I first applied it, the BB cream on me was already slightly a little too drying for my taste. ย As time went on, my skin looked more and more dry. ย This BB cream gave me more then 8 hours of wear with very little fading.

Fragrance?:
There is a slight herbal scent mixed with the soapy floral to this BB cream, nothing intoxicating and the scent fades once applied to the face. ย Smell-o-scale= 5/10

Demo time!Klairs BB cream reviewHere is my bare face with absolutely nothing on my face. ย No eye make up, no eyebrow make up, nothing but skincare products.

Things I look for in my base make up:
-hydrating
-dewy finish preferred
-evens out redness around nose, cheek and chin

-does not cling onto dry patchesIMG_0355

Klairs wishtrend bb creamHere is a closer look at my skin condition. ย I think right now, I have the worse skin condition I have ever had. ย I’m getting little red bumps all over my face and the texture of my face is turning more and more uneven. ย Of course the never ending story of my blackheads that never seem to leave my nose and my dark dark circles from staying up too late.

IMG_0363

IMG_0364Okay enough with the close ups. Have I scared you enough? ย

IMG_0366I always try to use my BB creams with my fingers because I can’t be bothered using tools, which is just another thing I have to clean later on. ย Those that pass the finger test, I usually give really high ranking since I’m a lazy person keke.

IMG_0368Blend it out with my fingers~

IMG_0369With just one layer, you can see a major difference. ย The left side (after) compared to my right side (before), my skin tone is already evened out tremendously and effortlessly. ย I’m truly impressed!

IMG_0371Sadly the finish isn’t the dewy finish I want, but I will play around with it some more to see if I can get it to work.

IMG_0372Here is closer look. ย Big big difference! ย And excuse my super uneven eyelids. ย I just woke up like that HAHA, not much I can do about it. ย I think I was crying the day before from watching sad Korean dramas and my eyes were “healing” from the swelling kekekeke.

IMG_0373

IMG_0375Hopefully you can kind of see, but the finish is more of a satin to matte finish rather then dewy. ย On my skin, it makes my skin look dehydrated.

IMG_0376

IMG_0377

IMG_0401Also, even after exfoliating, the BB cream cling onto every little crack of skin which was not a pleasant look.

IMG_0403On my cling, the BB cream made my skin look like chicken skin. ย I don’t know how but the BB cream decided it was a good idea to cling onto the pores of my peach fuzz. ย Weird…

IMG_0405I added another layer just to see if this product was buildable or not. ย Sure enough, it definitely was buildable! ย I also did both sides of my face in this picture. ย Big big difference for sure!

IMG_0406

IMG_0407I did not conceal my undereye circles here, but if you want to check out my review on the Klair’s creamy concealer, click here! ย I’m seriously impressed how well it neutralized the purple and redness under my eyes and also effortlessly concealed red spots on my face without clinging onto dry patches of skin.

Klairs blemish cream reviewAnd drumrollll please! ย With the BB cream, concealer and the other stuff… this is what we got! ย Full face of make upย ( โ€ขโŒ„โ€ข เฅ‚ )โœง

IMG_0408

IMG_0412Although I already didn’t enjoy the drying look on my face, I still had to go through with the full face of make up to see the end result. ย I added bronzer, blush, highlighter, lip gloss, eye make up and filled in my brows a little. ย With all that, my skin’s uneven texture was more and more accentuated.

IMG_0421

IMG_0426

IMG_0425Pro:
-no gray undertone
-needed little to cover redness
-buildable

Con:
-only one shade
-not hydrating enough on my skin type
-accentuated uneven skin texture

Overall thoughts:
As much as I was impressed with the coverage this BB cream gave and how well the color suited my skin, the finish of it ultimately was the deciding factor for me. ย I have very dry skin and I always need moisture to keep it looking decent. ย This BB cream is also very unforgiving to dry patches on the face. ย So with those two points, I’d have to say I would not be one to repurchase this for myself.

I would definitely recommend this BB cream to those who are normal to oily skin type that is looking for a BB cream that does not have a dewy finish, good light to medium buildable coverage and with no gray undertones. ย Overall I give this product itself a thumbs up, but for me I’d pass based on the points I have given for my skin type.

I really had a problem with this BB cream. (due to really dry skin) I so wanted to love it because I hears so many great things about it. But sadly I didn’t. I think the main problem is the skin type. I wished they had it in another shade also. One shade just isn’t enough. No matter what brand it is. Thank you for a great review

Me too, I am on the same boat as you. I have dry skin too and this formulation did not agree with my skin type. I wish they would come out with a moist version as well as a new shade.
