Cosrx Holy Moly snail mask Review + Demo

Cosrx if you haven’t heard of it already, is a really popular Korean skincare brand loved by many.  I personally have tried quite a number of their products and absolutely love everything that I have tried which is quite rare for a brand since I at least find one or two products I don’t like from any brand.  With that being said, when Bisoubeautybar offered to sent me some Polatam sheet masks, she also surprised me with Cosrx’s newest sheet mask called the “holy moly snail mask” which I was eyeing since it was all over social media when it was first released.  Let’s get started with the review because this is gonna be a good one. ╰(・∇・╰)

How to use:
After you have cleansed your skin and toned, apply this sheet mask to fit your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.  When the time is up, take off the sheet mask and massage the essence into the skin and bring it down to the neck.

Product packaging:
There isn’t anything special to the packaging other then the really cute graphic design.  This comes in single foil packets and the back has sufficient amount of English for anyone to be able to understand how to use it and the ingredients that is in the mask.

Excuse my weirdness, it has been getting super cold in Vancouver even taking pictures!  I had to use a blanket to cover myself… seriously it is like bi-polar weather here.

Okay let’s try the mask on!

I have very dry skin, especially now that it is winter time and I’m always indoors with the heater on, my skin needs all the hydration I can get.  My expectations for a sheet mask is usually just to give me as much moisture as possible and anything else would be a bonus.  The sheet masks I deem to be really high quality is those that I can even skip the rest of my skincare routine (moisturizer/ serum) and still be okay.

Hmm for some reason, my face seems to be a little red.

Okay let’s get to testing out this sheet mask!  To my surprise, the mask has a slight reddish tint to it.  I’m guessing it is from the red ginseng essence built into the mask.

When I apply sheet masks, I usually tilt my head 45 degrees looking up and then let the sheet mask sit on my forehead first.  After that, I fix the fit of the mask and smooth everything out.

Fit (sheet mask):
One very important detail I always point out is of there is a cut for the nose bridge part so that the mask won’t dry up around the under eye area and cheek area.  The rest of the sheet mask seems to fit nicely but I do wish the mask was slightly longer around the jawline.  What if someone has a bigger face then me like my boyfriend, it would most likely not fit as well as my face.  Yes, I know I have a giant forehead but I’d like to think the rest of my face is proportional.

Texture of mask + essence:
Cosrx surely doesn’t disappoint.  Although this mask is only 2,000 won, the material it is made is a nice thick material where the essence is able to be absorbed and stay for a long time while on the face.  Even after 15-20 minutes, the mask didn’t dry up that much and my skin felt absolutely moisturized.

The essence reminds me of Cosrx’s essences, light weight, easily absorbed into the skin, and has that familiar snail secretion slight sticky texture.  Those of you who has had experiences with snail secretion knows what I’m talking about.  It is kind of like gooey cheese, when you tap it it slightly stretches.  I hope that makes sense.

20 minutes later and my skin looks great!  Nice and moisturized and you can see the slight glow.  The redness around my cheeks also has went down and my skin is cool as well which is always a good sign hehe.  Slowing the aging process down :P.

Moisture level measurements:

The numbers are honestly shocking!!  The before and after are like 10-20% higher, especially in the moisture department.  I knew this sheet mask was moisturizing but it looks like I can be a mermaid with that amount of moisture HAHA.

pH level:
This sheet mask has a pH level of pH 5 

Fragrance?:
Like all of Cosrx products, this sheet mask does not have a fragrance either :).

Pro:
-super duper moisturizing
-affordable 2,000 won (or 10 for 10,000 won deal on the cosrx KR site)
-simple but effective ingredients

Con:
Absolutely nothing.

Overall thoughts:
I’m absolutely blown away with this sheet mask.  I mean I had expectations for Cosrx’s new product but I didn’t expect to find another holy grail item!  Seriously, I don’t even know what kind of magic they injected into these sheet masks but they are bomb.  I absolutely love how they are so moisturizing and with just one use, you can tell and visible see how it changes your skin.  Absolutely ridiculous and I’m definitely going to repurchase these in the future when I’m done with the couple I still have.  I highly recommend anyone that wants to try an affordable but effective sheet mask, this is definitely the one to go to.
