belif Moisturizing Bomb and Aqua Bomb Review

belif moisturizing bomb aqua bomb reviewBelif aqua bomb is one of those products that always get placed up front, all up in my face, all over the internet with people saying nothing but amazing things about it. ย It’s just a moisturizer right? ย Why are people going nuts over it? ย Well, I contacted them a while ago and they agreed to work with me by providing the product for me to try (thank you Belif!). ย So, advantage for me and advantageย for you because now I have my opinion fully formed and I will share with you guys my honest opinion. Let’s get started!!

Who are Belif? ย What is their brand story?
“…cosmetic brand that is formulated with superior ingredientsย and efficacy in the safest and most honest way possible. ย Its name is Belif.”ย Belif is a brand that uses “traditional herbal processing methods passed down from a British herbalist” in which they use to formulate the skincare products.ย ย “Belif is a true herbal cosmetic brand completed by marrying the traditional approach of treating the body and mind to maintain the skin’s ideal condition using natural herbs with Belif’s proprietary safe and innovation extracting methods!” ย I’m not going to get too much into it, so if you want to read the full story on the brand, click here.

They first sent me their most famous moisturizer, the aqua bomb. ย At that time, it was during the winter time and my skin was at it’s peak dryness. ย Since the formulation is more of a gel type, it didn’t hydrate as much as I wanted it to so I asked if they could also send me the moisturizing bomb which is suppose to be thicker and more moisturizing. ย In this review, I will be reviewing both for you guys and comparing the two so you can make the decision for yourself which one you need to pick out for your skin type.

Description of product:
Aqua bomb:ย
“Lady’s mantal is a benefical plant that contributes to alleviating various women’s skin troubles and the key ingredient in Belif’s hydrating cream, The true cream-aqua bomb. ย Named after the Virgin Mary’s cloak, Lady’s mantle is regarded to own mystic powers that protect beauty and health. ย British botanists called Lady’s mantle the hydrating herb for women.

With this her’s generous amounts of tannin, Lady’s mantle gained fame in Europe for excellent skin tightening and purification efficacy. ย Furthermore, it was also known as the plant of beauty for everlasting youth because the toner made from distilling the plant prevented skin troubles and softened rough skin for smooth and radiant skin. ย Lady’s mantle was called the “Magic Dew Drop”, because cleansing the skin with morning dew collected on the leaves of Lady’s mantle provided unparalleled moistness. ย For its various beneficial aspects, a British herbalist, Duncan Napier, developed a hydrating formula with Lady’s mantle to hydrate and protect the skin of women suffering from skin-dryness.

Belif has reinterpreted Napier’s hydrating formula to create the hydrating cream, the true cream-aqua bomb. ย It instantly infuses hydration like an explosion of a water bomb to dry and parched skin of the modern women suffering from all sorts of irritation and pollution. ย With the pleasant hydrating layer, this gel-type cream delivers rich moisture without sticky or greasy feelings as if morning dew has been sprayed onto dry skin.”

Moisturizing bomb:
“150 years ago, farmers in Scotland, were suffering from the side effect of a severe droughtย and long protracted war. ย Compounded by the hard work from farming, they also suffered serious skin damage including parching and calluses. ย Mild steroid creams were used to treat skin damage at the time by while effective, it also exposed the skin to more dryness and gradual thinning of the skin layer which would create even greater damage later.

The queen restored the beauty she had as a young princess after applying the water all over her body and at the age of 72, receivedย a proposal of marriage from the King of Poland. ย Since then, the magical water earned the name, the Hungarian water, and was widely coveted as a key ingredient for various hydrating products and fragrances.ย

Poke Root Ointment gained great popularity, used on farmers’ parched skin as well as cow’s dry and parched nipples.

Based on the Poke Root’s herbal prescription, Belif’s hydrating cream, the true cream- moisturizing bomb, is formulated with key herbs used in the Poke Root ointment to provide a reliable hydrating layer for lasting moistness and keeping skin smooth and supple.”

How to use:
After you have cleansed your skin and used toner, use a sufficient amount on your face and neck and massage till absorbed into the skin.

belif moisturizing bombProduct packaging:
Packaging for these moisturizers come in a simple plastic white jar with a screw on black lid that looks like a cute top hat. ย This moisturizer doesn’t come with any type of cardboard box, which I do actually enjoy since I hate recycling all the boxes I get from the PR samples LOL. ย One less box, one step closer to saving the world. ย These moisturizers unfortunately doesn’t come with a mini spatula, but luckily for me, I have tons I have collected from others so it’s not a big deal to me.

Belif aqua bomb moisturizerScrewing off the lid, inside you’ll see another airtight lid which helps keep germs from flying in and also retains the moisturizer’s moisture so it won’t dry out as easily.

Belif aqua bomb and moisturizing bombTexture/ Finish:
As you can see, the texture for the two moisturizers are very different. ย The classic aqua bomb comes in a light weight gel type, while the moisturizing bomb is more of a gel like cream that is more on the thicker side. ย As a try skin person, I usually stay away from gel type moisturizers since they always seem to never be moisturizing enough. ย But for the sake of science, I tried it anyways for you guys and I’m actually surprised! ย The aqua bomb is somehow moisturizingย enough for me to not feel dry and also gave me a slight glow for couple of hours after application. ย When I first tried it during the winter time when my skin was at it’s peak dryness, the aqua bomb preformed well for about 6 hours or so, but then I felt a little dehydrated after that. ย I have went back to using it the aqua bomb when the weather warmed up a bit and it has been working wonderfully for me.

I was still curious to see if the moisturizing bomb would work better for my dry skin since it is on the heavier side. ย Luckily, they were also able to send me that one to try as well. ย To my surprise, the texture is more of a gel cream rather then a heavy cream. ย Massaged into the skin, the cream absorbs fairly quickly and leaves a slightly dewy look to the skin which I prefer. ย Do I think it is more moisturizing then the aqua bomb? ย Not necessarilyย actually. ย It is only a bit more moisturizing but to my surprise, I actually like the aqua bomb better for some reason.

Belif the true cream

Moisture level measurements:

So here is the weird part. ย The moisturizing bomb supposedly should be more moisturizing then the aqua bomb right? ย But from the numbers, it says otherwise. ย My skin also says otherwise haha. Weird…

pH level:
Both moisturizers have a pH level of 5. ย This means the pH level is closest to human skin and most likely won’t irritate the skin.

Fragrance?:
Both of these have a fragrance but it isn’t an added fragrance but from the herbs itself. ย The moisturizing bomb has a lighter, herbal scent that is practically not there. ย Smell-o-scale: 4/10. ย The aqua bomb has almost the same scent but it is slightly more citrus. ย Smell-o-scale: 5/10 in terms of how strong the fragrance is.

Belif aqua bomb moisturizer reviewOkay let’s me show you how these moisturizers look like on the skin :). ย Please excuse the messed up lighting. ย Unfortunately for me, one of my lights broke so I had to improvise until the new one comes to me.

Here is my bare face with nothing on it. ย Not even lip balm for my crusty ass lips. ย My usual concerns are dryness, flakey skin and redness around my cheeks and chin.

First up, the aqua bomb.

It doesn’t take long for the moisturizer to soak into my skin. ย This one would be a lot better for me during the spring and summer time but people with combo skin, this would be your dream since it is light enough to not make you super oily, and also moisturizing enough so your dry spots would be happy as well.

It gives the skin a super subtle glow but nothing major.

And now, the moisturizing bomb.

Slap it on, slap it on. ย Just kidding, don’t slap your face guys LOL.

It’s like the worse lighting of life. ย But pretty much both moisturizers look almost the same but I think the aqua bomb gives the skin a slightly more glowy look. ย Odd right?

Better-ish lighting.

Pro:
-relatively moisturizing & lightweight
-absorbs quickly into skin

Con:
-not moisturizing enough for my super dry skin during winter, spring/ summer would be better

Repurchase?:
Aqua bomb maybe if I can’t find a moisturizer in my stash. ย Moisturizing bomb I’d pass since I have better moisturizers that gives me a deeper hydration.

Overall thoughts:
I can totally see why people are going gaga for the aqua bomb. ย It can virtually cater to all skin types, even dry skin if you using it when you aren’t super chapped from the heater during the winter time. ย The moisturizing bomb is almost the exact same thing as the aqua bomb, but I do like the consistencyย of the aqua bomb better and it is somewhat more moisturizing for some reason. ย I also appreciate they didn’t add any other fragrance, only the natural fragrance from the herbs are in it. ย Overall I do really like the aqua bomb, the moisturizing bomb I’d pass especially if they are priced at $47 CDN. ย Not too shabby Belif. ย Now I wonder if their eye cream is just as good as the aqua bomb. ย If it is, I’d be very very impressed.

What do you guys think of the Belif moisturizers? ย Which ones have you guys tried and what are your experiences with them? ย Let me know in the comments down below what you think. ย I want to compare experiences with you guys :).

Thanks for reviewing these! Staple or really popular products like these don’t always get reviews, so as a kbeauty noob I appreciate it.

Hmm, I’d say this is one of those products that are a good starting point, especially if you are starting out in k-beauty.

Sorry if this kind of out of topic but as hellborn dry skin survivor i would like to sugest you hadalabo line.did you ever try?it’s japanese brand.and as long as my adventure in k-skincare for hydration i still feel hadalabo just do better with less stickiness(something that i found a lot in kskincare cream that claim deep hydration)and i think its also in cheaper price..or at least comparable price.i use lotion(hydrating toner)+milk(like lotion/emulsion in kskincare)+cream
Anyway..it just sugestion anyway..always love your

Thanks so much for the reviews! I got some samples of the Aqua Bomb from Sephora and fell in love with it! I couldn’t get over how incredible it made my skin feel after using it at night – and I’ve been using full-strength Retin-A and hydroquinone from my dermatologist for melasma, so my skin’s been bonkers for the last month. I have dry skin anyway, so I was really wondering about the Moisturizing Bomb. I couldn’t imagine that I’d like it more than the Aqua Bomb. Thanks so much for helping me make up my mind.

      Glad to be helpful :).

Combination 65 year old skin, large pores. What would you suggest for big hydration at night without clogging pores? Was going to try Belief Moisturizer. Thanks. Researching is so confusing.

I personally really like heavy creams since gels aren’t hydrating enough for me. Here are some of my favourites:
      -Cosrx Honey ceramide moisturizer
-Cosrx PHA moisture renewal power cream
-Cosrx ultimate nourishing rice overnight spa mask
-Cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion (with birch sap)
      -Holika Holika super cera cream
      -J.one Hana cream
-107 oneoseven coreflex hydro rich cream
-Thank you farmer miracle age repair cream

Out of all of those, I’d suggest the Cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion, cosrx honey ceramide moisturizer, 107 oneoseven coreflex hydro rich cream or Thank you farmer miracle age repair cream. Both are very hydrating and on the lighter weight side.

I’d also suggest trying to layer a moisturizing ampoule/serum/ emulsion if you find gel moisturizers not hydrating enough. Not saying you need to layer it with my suggestions up above. Here are some of my favourites:
-Missha time revolution night repair activator ampoule
-Thank you farmer miracle age emulsion
      -Cosrx propolis light ampule

All of these are my favourite inject hydration without being heavy. Hope that helps and hope these won’t clog your pores!
