A’pieu x Doraemon collection- First impression review + demo

We thought Garfield was cool enough, then A’pieu collaborated with the one and only, DORAEMON.  Like WHAT!!! The collection was sold out in the first three days and was so hard to get my hands on it online.  I thought at that point that it would never come back in stock, so I tried my luck with a Korean buying service.  I asked them if it was in stock and when they checked for me, it was also out of stock in physical stores.  Two weeks after, I saw it come back in stock on Testerkorea and asked the buying service again if it was in stock and they said yes.  So I bought it through the site since the blusher was not in stock during that time on testerkorea.  Fast forward a month and a half later, the parcel finally arrived to my house and here we are.  Since that time, A’pieu came out with a part two of the Doraemon collection and of course I bought that as well but I will not come for a long time.  So let’s just start with the cushions I bought, my first impression on these and a demo of the blushers so let’s go! *＼( *ω*)┓.

Product packaging:
The cushion compact comes in the standard BB cushion case, with Doraemon’s face printed on the front.  With a lot of print nowadays, it is usually just a cheap sticker or a print that scratches off easily.  Luckily for us, this Doraemon print is not one to be scratched off and will not rub off.  This is one high quality print for sure!

The side of the compact has Doraemon ❤️ A’pieu.  Super cute (｡･ω･｡)ﾉ♡.

Inside has a nice sized mirror which is covered with a plastic when you first get it. I usually don’t rip it off since I never really use the mirror.  There is also the standard air puff which I find okay in texture but prefer my Etude House ones a little more.

You pop open the cushion by opening the lid which keeps it from drying out.

How to use:
Use this white base underneath your foundation or BB cream for a brightening effect.  I would not use this alone unless you are using this for Halloween and want to be a vampire hehe. You could also strategically place the white base in the center of your forehead, nose bridge, tops of your cheek and a little on your chin and then blend it out with your foundation/ BB cream. If you have a light hand (unlike me), you could use this as a subtle highlighter as well since it is completely matte with no shimmers but there is a dewy finish to it so it looks very natural.

Color/ pigmentation:
If you were to use a lot of this product, it is a very stark white on the skin as you can see in the picture down below.  However when you fully blend it out, it looks very natural with a hint of brightness.  This would not be a replacement for my BB cushion since I need a bit of coverage to even out my skin tone but it seems to be a nice brightener for my yellow undertones.  I would definitely not recommend this product for anyone that has a a skin tone darker then MAC NC30 or higher.  If you guys are looking for a BB cushion base that could work for your skin tones, check out Etude House Precious mineral Magic cushions that comes in a pale pink, pale peach and a mint shade.

Texture/finish:
Texture of this BB cushion base is very light, easily blendable and highly moisturizing which is great for the cold days that we have here in Canada for 9 months out of the 12.  There is absolutely no shimmers in the base and after you blend it out, it has a dewy finish.  Once it dries and sets after about 30 minutes, this has a satin finish and becomes less dewy.

Fragrance:
There is a very faint soapy fragrance but not strong enough to smell when you open up the cushion and there is also no scent when applying onto the skin.  Smell-o-scale= 4/10

Pro:
-very moisturizing; dewy finish
-blendable
-very pigmented and needs only little for full effect

Con:
-only work with selected light skin tones
-can’t be bought in stores (unless you live in Asian); have to be bought online

Overall thoughts:
My first impressions on this product is only so so.  I’m not the biggest fan of the effect since it is so stark white, but I bought it mainly just to get the Doraemon case.  I would have gotten the regular BB cushion set but I already had three of the same thing, so it would not have made sense to get two more of the same thing.  I wouldn’t repurchase this product since there are ones out there that have slight color in them that would look much more natural. Overall the product is decent but nothing out of the ordinary.Full name of product:

Packaging:
This blusher packaging is a little bit different from the full size Doraemon BB cushion case. Dorami’s case is a little bit smaller, measuring at 6.3 cm in diameter compared to standard BB cushion cases measuring at 7.1 cm.  I honestly didn’t think these blusher would be any good, but didn’t hurt trying.  Even if they were any good, I was just going to wash them out and use them as a travel friendly BB cushion for my purse.  Win win situation hehe.

Unlike the standard BB cushion cases where you have to press the button on the side to open up the compact, this one is just a snap on.  I wouldn’t worry about it popping open in your bag since it is quite sturdy.  Print wise is also the same as the Doraemon one, very nicely printed into the plastic and will not scratch off.

Inside is a decent sized mirror with a super adorable, mini sized air puff.

I did not get all three of the shades since I was skeptical of the bronzer cushion shade.  I have seen other Korean vloggers demo-ing it but I didn’t think it gave a precise enough effect to purchase for myself.

Here’s a size comparison from standard BB cushion sizes and the blusher size.

Color/pigmentation:
I didn’t think much of these cushion blushers since they are just a watered down liquid blush.  Boy was I wrong… When I apply these onto my cheeks with the air puff, little gives a very long way as you will see in the demo down below.  Although these are very light and watery, they are quite pigmented, especially on the cheeks.

CR01 is a bright coral color.  A very straight forward shade, not much to explain.

PK01 is a warm toned, rosy pink shade.

Texture/finish:
These blushes are completely matte with no shimmers and applies very dewy on the skin.  These set in 30 mins and dries down to a more satin finish and becomes less sticky.  These would work best with people with dry skin like me but would be questionable for those with oily skin types.

Fragrance:
These blushes also have a slight soapy, floral scent to it just like the Doraemon base.  Smell-o-scale= 4/10

These swatches look very similar, however the demo down below will show them in a truer form.

How to use/demo:
After your base make up is done (concealer, foundation/BB cushion, etc), apply these on your cheeks with your air puff.  Sounds easy enough right?  We’ll see about that HAHA.  Oh dear….

Here’s my face with no blush.  I have on eyebrow powder, eye make up, concealer, BB cream and have contoured a little bit.

Take your blusher and tap a little onto your air puff.

This is actually too much I have found.  A little goes a really long way, so I would suggest you guys to tap a little of the blusher on the edge of the cushion for a better control, unlike me down below. Train wreck, here we go~

Starting with the coral shade first~

Smile and tap.  I usually like to bring my blush a little bit towards the sides of my cheeks as well and not just on the apples of my cheeks.

Like I said up upon, TOO FRINKIN’ MUCH.

Wipe a little bit away, fix it!!

After.  I like the effect it gives, a very dewy finish with a natural glow to the cheeks.

Onto the pink shade…

Tap tap tap…F*** This problem again!  I don’t want to look like Pikachu damn it.

After…  I like them both but would use the pink shade during fall and winter and the coral shade during spring and summer.

Why do I feel like I have this Chibi Saturn vibe HAHA.  Yes I am yearning for more Sailor Moon Crystal so I could relive my childhood since I had no clue what the plot line was when I watched Sailor moon as a kid.Could someone kindly refresh my memory as to who Chibi Saturn is again? I only remember she turned evil kind of?  I don’t remember!!

Overall:
I do like this product and you definitely need very little, however you need to be careful when apply this blushers since they can go everywhere very quickly.  Once application is perfected, these could easily be one of my favourite cream(ish) blushes since it gives a dewy finish while keeping my skin moist.  These could be oily skin type’s worst nightmare since they would slip and slide everywhere with the finish it gives.  You could set these with a powder blush but kind of defeats the purpose of a cushion blusher in my opinion.  Overall these are good products but still on the fence if I like them or not hence the three star rating.
