IMG_7395 2I admit, sometimes I buy Korean cosmetics blindly because of the cute packaging.  Hey hey hey, don’t judge me…I know you do the same thing.  Couple weeks back, Ryan Roar posted up a blog post about A’pieu’s new limited edition BB cushion which they collaborated with Garfield.  Now, I was a 90’s kid that grew up reading Garfield comics since back then there wasn’t internet and these futuristic stuff called the internet.  Garfield and Archie comics kept this crazy monkey kid, that was always hyper active and super talkative to just sit down and be absolutely silent for hours at a time.  So of course I had to get this, purely for the packaging but it was a BB cushion so that was a bonus.  At first when I went to search for it online to buy, no big korean cosmetics stores online was carrying it and only three ebay sellers had it but it was $10 starting bid.  I was bidding on it since it was still not half bad at $10, but I ended up losing the auction so I just settled and got the regular A’pieu BB cushion.  It was only $6 with free shopping so I was like meh, why not.
6989014829_b504d29d81_o THEN… testerkorea four days later had it on their site for only 5,800 won (little less then $5.80 USD).  I was like UGH! I already bought the regular one, but but ITS GARFIELD.  SCREW IT ALL, TAKE MA MONEY~~~~

Back to present time, I obviously got the Garfield one and the regular one.  May I present to you, A’pieu Air fit BB cushion.

IMG_7396Full name of product:
A’pieu Air Fit BB cushion

-“Air light powder” gives a light and clear application for a natural finish
-uses mineral water instead of regular water for extra moisture to the skin
-“rolling system” with skin curves giving an even application (what on earth..)
-“any cover powder” gives silky, comfortable skin coverage
-contains aloe/ tea tree extract
-contains avocado peptide that gives a healthy elasticity to the skin
-SPF 50+ PA+++

How to use:
After skincare, use the air puff provided to apply the BB cream onto the skin.  I like to spray my air puff with a bit of water so that the sponge does not soak in as much product compared to if the air puff was dry.  And this method also gives me that extra moisture for my dry skin.

5,800 Won ($5.17 USD)

Amount of product:
13.5 g

Where to Buy:

So far that I can see, testerkorea and roserose shop offers it for the best price at $5.80 USD.

Shades available:
Two shades: shade 21, shade 23

Product packaging:
The a’pieu Air fit BB cushion comes in standard BB cushion packaging, a circle compact that is slightly bulky for my taste but it is understandable, a removeable BB cushion case that has a lid to keep the moisture in and germs out, a nice sized mirror and of course the air puff.  When you first get your BB cushion, the mirror is covered with plastic which I thought was a nice touch and attention to detail.  I’m just OCD like that haha.

IMG_7399Excuse the dust :P.  I found A’pieu’s air puff to me a lot less stiff then what I am use to.  I usually use the Etude House ones which is a lot more memory foam like and the air bubbles are a lot finer then A’pieu.  A’pieu’s air puff is more spongy, air bubbles are slightly larger then the Etude house one.  I like the Etude House one since the texture and the fineness of the air bubbles absorbs a lot less product, making the product actually just sit on the top of the sponge, while A’pieu’s would soak a bit more product.  Many they are doing this on purpose so that consumers would buy more of this product.  Sneaky sneaky…

IMG_7400Lucky for us, this BB cushion, you can pop out.  This means we can just buy the refill for cheaper :D. Not that this BB cushion isn’t cheap already, but I want to keep the Garfield packaging!  Luckily for me, the Garfield limited edition packaging is not a sticker but the design is actually printed onto the plastic lid.  I’m impressed considering this is such an affordable BB cushion!IMG_7409 Of course I’d have to see if the refill can fit into an Etude House BB cushion compact. IMG_7410Oh poo… you can fit the A’pieu refill into Etude house’s compact since the A’pieu refill is a bit smaller then Etude House’s. However A’pieu’s refill in Etude House does not sit securely and if you were to hold it, it could pop out.  Etude House’s refill does not fit into A’pieu’s compact whatsoever since it is just too big.

Color/ Pigmentation:IMG_7401At first when I purchased the regular packaged one, I got it in shade 21 since I am very far, even during the summer time since I don’t like to sun bath so I’m still a vampire during the summer time.  I hardly tan but my skin do get a little bit darker.  I didn’t think I would need to get shade 23, but when the garfield one was available I say heck to it!  Just get the other shade and also try it out, for science!

For reference:
-skin type: normal to dry skin, slightly flaky skin on nose and around laugh lines and corner of mouth
-MAC color reference: NC20-25 (yellow undertone, vampire pale)
IMG_7402The shades in the cushion looks crazy, especially shade 23 looks like it was made for an oompa loompa.

IMG_7404Out of the cushion and into actual skin, they don’t look that crazy.  Shade 23, surprisingly, actually matched my skin better then shade 21 which I thought would be the one since I’m pale pale pale.  Shade 21 has a slightly more pink undertone but I would say it is quite neutral, so even people with yellow undertone can wear this.  I can’t wear shade 21 right now since I’m on the slightly tanner shade, not that much tanner but enough wear I can’t wear this pale shade right now.  I am hoping that I can wear this shade during the winter time, but I highly doubt it.  If I can’t, I can always use it to contour as a highlighter.  No worries!  Shade 23 is a yellow undertone shade that works for my NC25, it is a definite match.  If you were NC30 or above, I do not believe you can use this BB cushion, it won’t work for your skintone.IMG_7408
Blended out, shade 23 looks a lot darker and looks like there is a very slight hint of a gray undertone. Shade 21 is  very pale and the pink undertone neutrals out with my yellow undertone. Applied with the air puff, the greyish does not appear with both shades and it also does not make me look like my face is peeling off my body.  I always have a problem, after applying a BB cream (cushion or regular BB cream), I finish my make up all the way down to blush and highlight, then look at the mirror and OMGAWWWWW.  Up close when I’m using my lighted mirror, everything looks fine but then BAM, looks at my full body mirror and I look like the ghost of Christmas past.  At that point, i go into denial because I spent the past hour taking my sweet time, doing my full face make up.  I tell myself “no one will notice when I step outside into the human world, just blend it out down to the neck”, but in the back of my head I know I still look like I came from the demon world with my face looking like it is floating in mid air above my neck.

Koreans love that watery, dewy finish which that trend is on it’s way out.  In comes the “blur” trend which focuses on the real life Instagram filter.  Although this product was not marketed as a “blurring” BB cushion, the A’pieu Air fit does just that. The finish is a slightly dewy, more on the satin finish while giving the skin that “i woke up like this” bull sheep.  Oh Beyonce, how you have infiltrated the human mind with your catchy songs.  This product works great for those who have dry skin since it is very moisturizing.  You’d have to make sure you do not have any dead, flaky skin on your face.  The first time I tried it, I forgot to exfoliate the day before and the BB cream was slightly catching and accentuating the dry patches of skin.  I can also see this working for oily skin people but I’d say powder a little bit for that extra insurance.

On a scale of one to ten, this BB cushion would be a 6 with its soapy, floral scent.  It is not strong enough for me to not want to use it or have a headache.

Lasting powder:
This BB cushion on my skin type, living in Vancouver with rainy weather 9 months out of 12, wore a good 9 hours with slight fading around my nose naturally since I wear glasses.  To my surprise, this BB cushion wore better then my Etude House any cushion moist.  I’m scared to say this, but I might like this cushion more then my beloved Etude House one :S.

IMG_7358Onto the facial test.  As you can see, I do not have perfect skin. I have my fair share of problems.

IMG_7360I have quite dark circles due to lack of sleep or sleeping late, slightly redness around the cheeks, nose and chin due to hormones, blackheads that reproduces over night and chapped lips.IMG_7362Let’s get started~

IMG_7363A closer look at my skin.  My nose is nuts with blackheads dang it! It will never go away too.  Sigh… If anyone has some home remedies that I can try, please comment down below.IMG_7366Before (right) and after (left side). I should really flip these picture so the before and after actually makes sense.

IMG_7368With low expectations of this product, I was blew away with the finish and coverage this BB cushion gave me.  With just one layer, my redness was covered nicely, gave me a slight glow to the skin without making it look like I put lip gloss all over my face and was moisturizing to my dry skin. Under the eyes, it worked well!  Good enough coverage, not drying and doesn’t settled in my fine lines and wrinkles under there.  I’m highly impressed.

IMG_7369Side view of the other side with no BB cream.  There’s definitely a big difference, my skin looks a lot more even.IMG_7376Both sides with the BB cream.  Ahhh much better, nice and even.  Not cakey, nice and moisturized.

IMG_7378Add a little bronzer….  This is The body shop honey bronzing powder in the shade 01 light matte.  It isn’t my most favourite bronzer (Benefit Hoola bronzer is), but it is a good bronzer when I’m in a hurry.  I sometimes have a heavy hand with blush and bronzer, espically when I’m in a rush, so this bronzer is perfect.  It is especially great for light skin toned girls out there

IMG_7382Doesn’t look like I have any bronzer on under the lights and my camera.  It is there I promise!

IMG_7383Add a little bit of blush… This is the Bobbi Brown pink cheek palette that I got back in April during the VIB sale and have been loving itttt!  The colours don’t look like much and not that interested but on my skin tone, it works great! In pictures, the two blush looks like the same but one the left one is a more cool toned, baby pink shade, while the blush on the right side is a warm toned, slightly peachy pink shade.  The middle is a fine shimmery pink that gives the skin a natural glow.  Sadly, as I just check on Sephora’s site, they don’t sell this palette anymore.  I hope they do bring this back, it is an amazing palette :).

IMG_7384Finishing touches with my YSL Rouge Pur couture glossy stain in the shade 17, Encre rose.  Although these YSL glossy stains are on the more expensive side, they look great on the lips and when the glossy part of the wears away, it does actually stain your lips!  And I like how my natural lip color peeks beneath it, however you can also blank out your natural lip color to get a more vibrant lip color by applying the BB cream (or foundation, concealer, etc) over your lips before applying the lip color.

IMG_7386Finished! I purposely don’t put concealer on my under eye to see if the BB cream gives me good coverage.  I’d use my own under eye concealer as the BB cushion didn’t brighten up the under eye area. Overall, I’m very happy with the finished results.IMG_7390Pros:
-affordable retail price
-good coverage, light to medium
moisturizing without making you look like a grease ball
-nice finish to the skin, looks like you aren’t wearing any make up!
-high SPF
-no gray undertone after application

-Not easily accessible to those that do not live in Asia; buy online
-will cling to dry patches so make sure to exfoliate prior
-only two shades available
-air puff is not the best quality but passable

YES! A big fat YES!

Stars given out of 5:

I am pretty much blown out of the water how good this BB cushion is.  Affordable going at $5 USD, I didn’t expect much since it is so cheap but never judge the book by it’s cover.  I might be ditching my Etude House any cushion moist for this A’pieu Air fit, it just works better with my skin and the color matches me a lot better.  One thing that I really don’t like is the air puff… No biggie since I can just use other air puffs I have collected from my other cushions.  Overall I will be repurchasing this BB cushion when it runs out and I recommend it to all my ladies and gents out there that is looking for a good BB cushion at an affordable price.

What do you guys think of this BB cushion?  Have you tried it out yet?  Do you want to try it :P. Let me know what your favourite BB cushion is and which one I should try next.  Tell me down below in the comments, I love to hear from you guys!

Thanks for a nice review! You did great job!
I really love the blush you use. Do you know anything similar color I can find from Korean brand that is more affordable?
Did you use BB color21 in this review, right?
Is this ebay store roserose that carries it for $5?

    • Christina September 6, 2015 at 1:23 am Reply

      Hello Julia,
I’m glad you enjoyed the review. I can’t recommend you any korean blushes since i haven’t bought much Korean blushes so I can’t really give you any suggestions. And I used shade 23 of the A’pieu Air Fit bb cushion. They sell it on testerkorea for $5.50 USD. Link is down below~ Hope that helps 🙂

Hi Christine, what kind of skin type do you have? Because I want to know, this is suitable for oily skin-acne prone or not? Thank you^^

    • Christina December 10, 2015 at 8:37 pm Reply

I have dry to very dry skin type. This could work for oily skin type people if you set it with powder. I don’t find it too oily but it does have a dewy finish.

My sister-in-law, who now lives in S.Korea, sent me my an A’Pieu Air Fit Cushion #21. I loved it. My skin looks radiant, fresh & I look younger than my actual age. You are right, this product is not available anywhere outside S.Korea. That’s why I’m planning on buying my next cushion at Skin Food.

    • Christina March 9, 2016 at 1:29 am Reply

Yes, sadly A’pieu is only located in South Korea but at least your sister lives there so you can ask her to buy it for you haha. If not, it is easily available on k-beauty online retailers as well or ebay! Glad to hear you enjoy it and thank you for stopping by. Stay tuned for more reviews!

I am using this cushion, the first cushion I bought which is the doraemon case (missed the garfield edition) and I don’t think I’ll switch, as the price is good, just as you wrote here! But….. have you tried the other variants of air fit? (Apieu has the regular air fit, air fit xp, air fit bboyan, and the newest is air fit pposong).. I am wondering what are the differences between all the air-fits, do you know? Please let me know if you have heard about them or have tried them yourself ^^
I love your review btw, detail and filled with many pictures that definitely a big help for the readers..

    • Christina May 26, 2016 at 4:01 am Reply

So far I have not tried the other Air fits. I know there is a matte version of the air fit. I have tried and reviewed the Doraemon white base cushion. Here’s the link. They have since released a peach base which is better then the white one since it looks more subtle in the brightening department. I am actually ordering their newest air fit so stay tuned for that :P.

And thank you for the compliment :). I pride myself in my detail oriented self, so tons and tons of photos is a must for me. Do stay tuned for more reviews in the future <3.

hello…it’s a nice and very detailed review.
actually i’m considering of buy shade 23 🙂

you can try make a paste from baking soda and put it in your face like another facial mask. it works well on my whiteheads

    • Christina May 31, 2016 at 2:03 am Reply

Hello! shade 23 would be a good match if you are a Mac NC20-25.
I have yet to try the baking soda method but i have heard of it. I kind of want to get my hands on some wheat grass to make it into a little grass pad and put it on my nose to get rid of my blackheads and whitening my nose at the same time :P.

    • Christina July 9, 2016 at 9:10 pm Reply

I actually recently bought April skin. Haven’t tried it out yet since I don’t have time but I will definitely be doing a review of it in the future.

hi Christina , i enjoy watching your review as is very helpful . XP
i was wondering that compare to laneige bb cushion #23 which will be more matte finish ?
does this cause any breakout? as the laneige bb cushion cause bit of breakout on my skin ><
    i have a combination skin
where t-zone are more oily than the cheek
but the breakout are all on the cheek …

    • Christina July 22, 2016 at 12:21 am Reply

I wouldn’t say Laneige’s BB cushion is more matte in any way. The dewiness level is almost the same as A’pieu’s but I’d say A’pieu’s is a bit more dewier. For me, it hasn’t caused me any breakouts since I do have dry skin. I’d say try some cushions that are either satin or matte finish.

Here are some suggestions: Jelly cushion
      -Verite UV multi cushion LX
      -Iope cushion in matte formula
      -Innisfree cushions
-Etude House precious mineral any cushion (regular formula)

      Hope that helps~

Actually those aren’t blackheads, those are called sebaceous filaments and they are supposed to be there! Everybody has them. If you try to keep removing them, your pores will get bigger!

    • Christina August 22, 2016 at 2:17 am Reply

WHOOOOOO my mind has just been blown. Thank you so much for telling me :D. I just read up on it and you are definitely right! I’ve always wondered why they are always there and how come they never go away even with extractions and peel off nose strips. 🙂 You might have just changed my life!

omg you do not know what pale is, this is hardly the vampire pale you think you are. I’m considered light skinned, not fair skinned, and this cushion was way too dark on me. I think you’re quit tanned. and mac NC-20 is simply just “light,” not at all vampire LOL

    • Christina April 14, 2017 at 9:17 pm Reply

Haha I guess I’ve been pale compared to my peers where I live :P. I just like to joke about the vampire thing hehe
